My, and I'm putting this one in right after Paul Hoekman's "Puzzle" and Seymour Tabin's "The Paradox End"!  This *is* metaphysical night . . .

I thought I was in a world,
But now I plainly see,
That all I though was world
Is just a thing in *me*.

Horizons and expanses
Are scratches on my eye --
And "eye" itself is drawn inside
And is a part of "I".

All continents and epochs
And things in space and time
Are aspects of my being --
They're no more real than I'm.

And all the God that I can know's
A mannikinish elf
Who, master of my inner worlds,
Is subject to myself.

But when I think about my*self*
It's just too much to bear . . .
*I* must be just a mannikin
     Inside another mannikin
          Inside *another* mannikin
               Who isn't really there!

Hi Ted,

Love this ditty poem and all its says... seems like it  should be sung.  Great finishing stanza.  I thought of those whachamacallits, those egg people within egg people, to picture your mannikin.  Great read.

Rus

P.S.  I realize now that this is a reply to myself.

Great poem!!! I, too, was reminded of those egg people that fit inside of each other by the ending....

ROFL@ Rus- 'I realize now that this is a reply to myself.'.....hehehehehe

Whose winnings are less than his worth;
For he who is honest is noble,
Whatever his fortunes or birth.~~~Alice Cary, ~Nobility~

Awesome... I didn't think of the little eggs inside the little eggs though...
I thought of looking in a mirror while there's a mirror behind me and each reflects the other ad infinitum.... YEAH!!
Great poem...
