When A Band-Aid Won't Do Anymore
~Marge Tindal~

Why use a bandage
when a Band-Aid will do?
This heart isn't so wounded
that the hurt shows through.

It's such a tiny wound,
a teensy laceration on my heart.
Surely a Band-Aid will patch it up,
until I locate a new part.

A little cut.
A little repair.
A little Band-Aid,
to cover the tear.

It's no wonder
my heart didn't mend.
It's covered with Band-Aids,
from end to end.

Now it's major surgery,
and it causes me to rant ...
forget the stupid Band-Aids !
I need a HEART TRANSPLANT !

Throw away those band-aids because help is on the way
I can mend that aching heart that you have on display.
You don't need a tourniquet or bandages because
Every day is Christmas and I am your Santa Gauze.

I wish that it was an easy thing
to mend something that can't be seen
to wrap it in a cotton cloud
and keep it tucked in moon beam's shroud
light and life across the night
would keep it safe from lovers strife
If only bandaids could stop the strain
of a broken heart that feels the pain

You are so inspired Marge, and such an inspiration!

I think, you don't need a new heart
You're so soft and sweet, you're of a special Art
Wounds we all have, those to heal
Friends we are, we feel what you feel
Here is a big hug to easy the pain
Fresh blood will now run through your vein
and if that won't do
well (blush) here is a kiss and hug for you
Well written your poem, but wait
Nice picture there...the package of band-aid
Hope your spirit remains, don't be afraid
you don't need a band-aid

The ability to describe life with words is similar to painting a picture; both can be powerful tools.

Margie
This is the cutest thing I ever read
Coming from your pretty head
But honey, you are much too smart
To have so bandaged up a heart
Loved it, Marge
Liz

To Martie
I am sooooo impressed with your verse
You write as beautifully in rhyme as you do in free verse

Helmut Becker-
How sweet of you.
Why it's thoughts like that
that pull a gal through.

The poem was inspired
by a friend of mine ...
who, herself, writes
a pretty good rhyme.

My heart is in good shape,
for the shape it's in ...
and it just got better,
with a hug and a kiss from a friend.
*Thank you !

--------------------------------------------
Elizabeth, my friend-

Blame it on Martie,
she inspired me this time.
Then look what she did
she wrote one that rhymed !

*Aren't we just the luckiest people
on earth to have such great inspirational
friends in our lives?  YEP !

Very cute!  I really enjoyed this one!  The band-aid idea puts a hilarious streak on grief, which is very hard to do in a poem!  You pulled it off excellently!

Marge:  After reading all those kind things our friends said about your "Bandaid" poem, and that I wholeheartedly agree with, I can only add one thing:  you seem to be able to get the best out of people's hearts with your poetry. I once read somewhere, that if a poem evokes a smile, dries a tear, it has fulfilled it's task.  This one does.

First_Knight-
Have missed you for a couple of days.
All okay?
Glad you're here.
Thanks, friend.

Rosemary-
Well, my friend ... thank you sooooo much.
Hope everyone has a box of Band-Aids handy.
You KNOW I appreciate you !

Willem-
What a wonderful way of saying what you said.
You've sure made this lady feel GOOD about
dispensing smiles or drying a tear.

I simply write FROM my heart and maybe
that's what REACHES other hearts.

You just made my day !
Thanks.  Love ~*Marge*~
