Remember the wonderful stuff that dominated the news one year ago in January 1999.  Yes, I'm talking about the Impeachment of President Bill (Casanova) Clinton and I wonder if he will have a romantic memoir also or will it simply be titled "Bull and Hillary"?  I'm one of the few that wanted Monica and Bill both to work for Jenny Craig.

Did you rise to the occasion?

Republican or Democrat-no matter the persuasion
if you voted for Impeachment you rose to the occasion.
And you better believe this and take note
I'll remember who stood for Impeachment the next time I vote.

You are not only attempting to remove a twice elected President
you are attempting to remove a morally derelict White House resident.

Be proud for this country and the values for which you stood,
for honesty, integrity, respect, and all that's good.
Your blessing is this...to always know you made the right choice this time.
You raised your voice and told the truth and you did just fine.

The decision was tough and you were tough as hell
and the future direction of this country has been served so well.
So let all good men rise and applaud with a resounding ovation
all those special brave men who rose to the occasion.

I did not have a sexual relationship with that woman...Ms. Monica Lewinsky--President Bill Clinton in 1999.

I for one am glad all of this is in the past. I won't share my personal views on the matter but I have a great respect for people who follow their conscience and vote their conscience, no matter the issue and no matter where I personally stand on an issue.
Similarly, I have a great disrespect for those who do things for political reasons only...I'm sure there were enough of both on both sides of this issue.....

I thought your poem was well done, James!

And slight is the sting of his trouble
Whose winnings are less than his worth;
For he who is honest is noble,
Whatever his fortunes or birth.~~~Alice Cary, ~Nobility~

First current event
politics I've seen
here,and am not sure
how to respond,
I enjoyed, it was well written.
but maybe poetically incorrect.
(point of view, no offense)
Keep em coming.

Thank you Denise, First Knight and Paul for reading and commenting on this.  I almost didn't post because I remember how this dominated the news for so long and everyone was so sick of hearing about it and of course deeply devided on the outcome.  I agree with Paul that this is maybe poetically incorrect.(laugh of course)  James

This inspired my thoughts
So I have this to say;
When ya get down on your knees,
Do it just to pray,
Not like Monica,
I'd never suggest,
Why waste the money
To clean your new dress?
Unlike the President,
I wouldn't soon forget,
I'd never not recall,
The day that we met.
And if that old slick willy
hadn't "Rised to the occasion"
The news wouldda written something else,
To cause a big sensation.

A very funny poem Toerag you made me laugh.
Also an excellent analogy about the President but not my original intention.   James
