The Rose
-----------------

I look inside my memories
to the flowers of my past
I see the emotions spent
for love that did not last

Like flowers wild and tame
Their variety always there
but like the weaken petal
They fell in the gusty air

The Rose was all I ever hoped
So soft and firm and sweet
I did not see the thorn it hid
when I kissed it on the cheek

It pricks me when I come to close
but still I dare to touch
Enchanted am I of its glow
the Rose is just too much.

Beautiful, James! Beauty does have its thorns, doesn't it!

The pleasure is always worth the pain, me thinks.  Lovely poem, Haleyja.

Parker-
This is just LOVELY !

Within the beauty
of the rose ...
a thorny stem
worth the close inspection.
Ahhhhh !
Perfection !

Lovely James...I heard a quote one time that went something like this:
Some people look at a rose and wonder why something so beautiful has thorns, others look and thank God that something like thorns grow flowers as beautiful as roses

Hoot, thank you very much. That quote is so true. Some might say that Love has a hidden danger, like the rose with its thorns, but maybe they are theere just to keep us on our toes.

I just love the irony here.  Very well written and so meaningful.  Life and Love ~ both are uncertain things.  But what I really liked was the part about the "prick"...I think I've had that flower before, too.  (hehehe)

Thanks Liz, your very kind.

Sherry, now I'm not sure how to take your remark about the "prick". How many times have you had that flower before dare I ask.

This is beautiful James, loved the way you compared the Rose to a Woman and I think beauty needs to protect itself, don't you think?

Beautiful James I love it.
