Oh, how did I ever find thee?

Was it at the whim of Fate?
Or the planned hand of Destiny?
A chance throw upon a clean slate?
Oh, how did I ever find thee?

Like so many grains of sand
Tossed upon the shore from a torrent sea
Powerless over where we land.
Oh, how did I ever find thee?

Beings caught in the current of Time
Drifting in past, present and future eddies
Within bottomless soundings of the hour's chime
Oh, how did I ever find thee?

Were I to take the world's vastness at a run
Reveling in all the eye could see
Treasures would still forever lie beyond the horizon
Oh, how did I ever find thee?

The answer may be a mystery for the sages
But the truth is clear for me
Query the question of the ages
And I shall claim "Love is how we came to be"

This piece is so well~constructed and creatively designed. Your language use is exceptional and gives way to the overall fragrance of the poem.

"Within bottomless soundings of the hour's chime"

...such an appealing line, kept company by many more.

Hi Andrew,

Love your simple and endearing refrain.  Such a lovely poem.  I was taken especially by this stanza:

Beings caught in the current of Time
Drifting in past, present and future eddies
Within bottomless soundings of the hour's chime
Oh, how did I ever find thee?

Anne… Thank you for your kindness.

Meadowmuse… Thank you as well.  I've enjoyed poems of yours in turn and I am glad to see your mark here.  I too am fond of that particular line as "soundings" not only relates to what is heard, but also denotes depth in nautical terms.

Rus: Thank you Sir and welcome to PIP.  Glad I could share.

Grandma Jo:  I aim to please… and you are most welcome.  Thanks for stopping by.
