      THE "SNUGGLE RIGHT IN" FEELING

What in Heaven is a "snuggle right in" feeling?
Don't recall hearing the expression before.
Maybe if I crawl under the huge white quilt
Stuffed with goose feathers, which Hal and Sherri
Gave me for my birthday, and which I've never used--
No, now I remember why it's gone unoccupied.
It's much to large to cover only me,
I feel lost and lonely here, not snuggly at all.
But if all the cats were to join me here,
Oolong, Geisha and Maxwell and Fergus,
And Amber and Wix who have passed on could be here too,
And my mother's dog Miracle, as polite and clever as a cat,
And my brother and sister are welcome too, and Hal and Sherri,
And David and little Katie and Belle and James (if he'll behave,)
And Beth and Jeanette and Nick, who taught me to sail, and Mrs. Chatterjee who taught second grade,
And the man at the bus station this morning who was helping the little kid who was sobbing,
And Mother Theresa and Brother Martin and all those whom I've loved for their kindness and humanity and grace--

Well, they're all invited to join me under my warm quilt
As we all snuggle right in together.

I love to snuggle right in. Especially with cats and dogs. They're so "snuggly". Got enough for me too?

Ted

This was a really really NEAT poem.  man, this poem can't help but leave its reader feeling just a bit better about his day and his life.  You really nailed a whole new set of emotions.  This was an incredibly ingenious topic.  Well done, Ted.  I love it every time I read it.

Hey...save room for me, with this flu and all the chillin I've been doing with it, a nice warm quilt sounds great to snuggle up under.
