Same Name

A little far from recreation
A bit of blues brings on the tears
After all that we've discovered
ain't it funny, we end up here

High tides come in desperation
making all else seem so cold
For our time spent in Salvation
Seems so funny, I'm feeling old

We use to dance the slow song's
And hold each other tight
We use to hum the melody
Deep into the night
And where there were turtle doves
We would glide in flight

Where was it, this thing called distance
When did it come about
How could it hold the locks down
And keep our loving hearts out

Seems so simple as we stand here
But the reality is so dim
After all that we've been through,
Do the feelings really end?

Time can go on quickly
When you don't take time to touch
To give a simple hug or say,
I love you oh so much
And suddenly the years have swept,
and noting looks the same
The only thing you share together
is the same last name

I looked into a strangers eyes as I lay upon my bed
And wonder what he sees in me
what's going through his head
Is there any longing left, a sigh of new desire
Has the passion burned up in the flames
just ashes in the fire

I pray we wake in mornings light
in the arms of someone near
I hope that all that's laid to rest,
will wash away the fears
Let star dust fall up our brow
And quickly breed desire,
As we look into each others eyes
And melt in passions fire

tori, this reads as if it should be sung...very well presented. Melancholy, troubling, and all too familiar. Excellent.

Sounds like many marriages I know, too. That's why a solid foundation of friendshop is soooooo very important in a marriage. The flames of passions can ebb and flow, but the bond of friendship is the anchor! Well done, Tori!

Arghhh...memories of the ex springing up all over in this one.  Indeed, the only thing shared was a name.  These feeling I know all to well...may you soon find something to fill the emptiness this poems spells out to me.

Tori this is a wonderful piece, and filled with so much truth. A sad truth it is...
and I agree, it does read much like a song.
Well done

I thought I might find you hear
How are you dear.
I am impressed by what I’ve read
Read it twice..each single tread
A song? Yes, possible I guess
Nice to see you here and god bless
May your day be as the brightest star on a clear southern night.

The ability to describe life with words is similar to painting a picture; both can be powerful tools.

Tori, sorry I missed this one!  Boy I have had the same thoughts before. You sure are keen in listening and portraying how someone else is feeling...
Beautifully done!

Where there is love,
there is peace.
Where there is peace,

Where there is GOD,
there is no need.
