To some the day is ending
With the setting of the sun.
But for the people of the night
Their day is just begun.

Working girls with too tight clothes
Pimps in gay attire-
Grifters, conmen, gamblers, rogues
And slicks with guns for hire.

Death will walk the sordid streets
The alleys, hotels room-
Where one hot spike too many
Will mean some junkie’s doom.

A wino in some alley-
Snores as headlights pass-
Not knowing that two teenaged punks
Will soon be back with gas.

To torch the sleeping derelict
And revel in his screams-
As death at last will put an end
To nightly anguished dreams.

Predators will stalk their prey-
With words, or knife, or gun...
A glimpse into the world that wakes
With the setting of the sun.

Certainly changes your way of thinking and makes you appreciate life as a whole

You have a manner of telling tales like few others, Gunslinger. This well~crafted account sheds your literary light on the darkness of even the most illuminated. Thanks for posting this one.
