Letting Go
~Marge Tindal~ 2000

Needing to know
when
to hold on
and
when
to let go.
Wanting to hold on.
knowing I should let go.

Holding on to what?
Myself?
I reach out to hug you
and my arms encircle only me.

Well, this self-hug feels good.
Maybe I have let go
and just don't realize it yet.

Now, let's work on the mind.
A day,
an hour,
a minute
or a thought
that doesn't have you in it.

Letting go ... starting to grow.

Excellent, Marge.... We don't grow unless we let go... and if we let go, you know how the adage goes.... Sometimes we let go and they go nowhere, ya know????

Very good poem, Marge.

"Maybe I have let go
and just don't realize it yet."

Great Line.
Indeed, sometimes we have to let go to grow.

Nan-
Thanks for the read and the comments.

Michael-
Thank you for your perceptions.

Toe-
Glad you enjoyed it and
took the time to say so.

Suthern-
Soooooooo glad you enjoyed.

Hoot-
Guess it's a lesson some do need to know
is capable of being learned, huh?

Whiskey-
Personally, I've never had a problem
learning when to hang on or to let go ....
but was sure thinking of others and hoped this would help them.

Letting go can be very hard, until one day you wake up and realize you were holding on to a dream
This is lovely

If you know you're holding on, letting go is the only option...

Marge: Super poem..

reminds me of the words to a song, "the loudest sound I know, is the sound of letting go."  Great poem Marge!

This is a great poem as well as a reality-check. I loved the poem.

Nate -

Hadn't thought of it as a 'reality check',
but you're right ... it is.
Thanks for that insight.

GrandmaJo -
Great thought ... moving ahead.
Thanks, glad you liked it.

Hi Marge,

This has a subtle wit and wisdom in it that makes for an excellent read.  Love that last stanza!

Thank you for the read.
You got it !
That's my favorite part of this one too.
Just my head ...
talking to someone's heart.

Looking forward to more from you.

They say
If you love someone
Let go
If that someone returns
Then it is true love
If not
Then perhaps it was not to be.

Well expressed feelings Marge
and so very nice lined up
but yet sad too

My friend, Helmut Becker,

It is true ...
letting go is the only way.
For some it is a very difficult thing
to do ... for some, impossible.

Love having you read my writings.
Have a wonderful day.

Marge-
For me letting go happened when I realized I could exisit with feelings from the past and with feelings of the present.  Somehow the two blended into a happy medium and life became normal again...make any sense?  You don't always have to let go, but you do have to grow, as you have so nicely written.  I enjoy your words!

Forgive the words I send
I had to let go although I did want to hang on
Doing this...I learned that letting go
was for me and her the better thing to do
Thus knowing....it is not always true
I agree with you
There is a lot more to this...then just letting go
I know
Hope you forgive

Great poem Marge!

Lorelei -

Very true ... Keeping the best of thoughts and letting go of any that cause pain is part of the growing process.
Sometimes it's necessary to grow
in separate ways.
Thanks for your comments.

Helmut Becker-
Dearest Helmut, forgiving is not ALWAYS
necessary ... getting beyond is.
Very necessary to get beyond the pain.
I like your words.

Seymour-
Thank you, friend.

Pepper-
Glad you liked it ...
my favorite stanza too.
