Lost On The Sea
~Marge Tindal~ 2000

My love went sailing.
He bid me a fond farewell.
He said he would return,
my heart with him did dwell.

The days and nights of longing,
fresh in my memories.
I waited for my love,
to return from the seas.

I watched and I waited.
Both to no avail.
Then I heard the sad refrain,
the tolling of the bells.

The tolling of the bells,
filled me with fear and dread.
The cacophony of the tolling chimes,
telling of the dead.

The ships at sea were searching.
Now the search was done.
The tolling of the bells
said no one would come home.

On nightly watch I remain,
hoping, against hope, to see
my love come walking through the door,
bringing my heart back to me.

He still thinks he's lost on the sea,
Saying to himself, "Who'll rescue me?
Watching the waves, as they take him out farther,
Lost not forgotten, upon the blue water.

Maybe someday, he'll be found and rescued,
From the note in the bottle, that floats in the blue,
Then all of a sudden, he sees the scope of a sub,
LongJohn's been rescued, from his hour in the tub!

A sad and well written poem Marge.  You amaze me.

and is refreshed.

Very beautiful and very sad, with a lovely feel to it.  Yet again, you guys here make me want to go see the ocean.  It's odd to love something like that as much as I do and have never seen it, huh?  lol...anyways, exellent work!

Marge, This is so sad and moving, I know the sea can be so unforgiving. Wonderful work.

Tremendously moving, Marge. I love it. You've been missed, my friend!
