I don’t care about the money-
I don’t care about the fame..
And it really doesn’t matter,
If nobody knows my name.
I simply have this one desire
Before I move along...
To thrill you with the tales I spin
And chill you with my songs.
I’ll tell of places I have been,
and sights which I have seen.
The deserts bare and lonely-
The jungles, lush and green.
The times I’ve loved, the times I’ve lost
The tales go on and on-
I have so many tales I’d spend-
And a lonesome minstrel’s song.
I’d tell of lonely days and nights
I’ve spent out on the road-
Where wanderlust, and dreamer’s dust
Did plague me like a goad.
To drive me far, and farther still
No matter, right or wrong-
I’d thrill you with my drifter’s tales
And chill you with my songs.

I thought your poem was pretty darn good. The saddest words in any language are 'It might have been', huh? Anyway, i enjoyed it.

Hi, Gunslinger.

I like this poem a lot -- it could easily be a song. One thing, though: I think a more interesting poem would be a tale or two themselves, rather than the affirmation that you'll chill and thrill us with tales you haven't told yet. Still, the poem was a lot of fun.

bsquirrel--you haven't read the tales he's told, he has so very many, each one is a gem as is this one.

You were right, Martie. What an impressive body of work! I'll have to read more later, but what I saw so far, including I Will Be Back, is a storyteller's heart set on a plate and flourished with words. Great stuff! Be proud, Gunslinger. And keep 'em coming!

A new fan,
Mike

Love this, Gunslinger! Excellent rhythm and phrasing, and as always, superb content. You've a romantic, sentimental heart, and I am grateful that you've chosen to pour it out in your writing and share it with those of us who so enjoy your wanderlust and reflection~filled giftings.

Take care,

Dear LadyClaire

His poetry's great, it touches us all,
Keeps all of his readers in envious awe,
Tales of the west, done by Gunslinger,
Now he's tellin' us he's also a singer?

Your tales are much more heartwarming than they are chilling, my friend....
