The Sweetest Coo of Mourning Dove

There is a sacred place inside my heart
Untouched by human hand or petalled flower
A secret chamber love did not impart
And not yet reaped by passion's ardent power

There is a sweetness of the soul unknown
Yet unexposed to brightness of the day
For fear in all the visions it's been shown
Of being tread upon along the way

There is a wisdom hidden in my mind
A reservoir of life's own taken path
A treasure chest that none would ever find
So deeply hid in sorrow's aftermath

It seems the sweetest coo of mourning dove
Has been in waiting for your precious love

Elizabeth Santos

It's very funny that I go by the name hoot owl when I liken myself to a dove taking flight. I like this Liz...it speakes to this soul of mine eager to take wing

Whiskey, thanks, dear
I wonder where you got the name of whiskey
Liz

Hoot,
This speaks to your question of "holding back".
Your poem touched a chord

It's very nice Elizabeth. As an artist drawing Birds of Prey I also have it with Wings as you may see

Wings
Nothing less
Nothing more
Just to guide
Make you feel and realize
Skies above have
no confinements
no boundaries
no restraints
Freedom, patience
and forever more
they allow your dreams
to soar.

Thanks for such a nice poem

The ability to describe life with words is similar to painting a picture; both can be powerful tools.

Elizabeth,
Your coo and your dove speaks of love.
How beautiful you said the above.

Helmut,
Thank you for your poem! I didn't know you were an artist. I appreciate your comment

Sy,
"What I say is what I feel
And what I feel is in my heart
My heart speaks only for itself
And from its song it will not part"
Thank you, Sy
Love ya,

Nudge..nudge...wake up Kamla!

'Huh?' Blink, blink - 'oh sorry...I was just drifting away in flight on the wings of a soaring poem, that bore me high in delight...'

Marvellous....
