My oldest son turned sixteen yesterday
It seems like minutes since he was born
I wonder why we let time get in the way
And end up feeling sad and forlorn.

Looking back into the past few years
I've had a chance to smile and shed some tears
But all in all he's brought joy to my heart
And now through fate, we live apart.

I'm proud to call him my oldest son
And although he is not the only one
He's the first I see grow to manhood
And I'm pleased to see him doing things he should.

So Happy Birthday dear sweet young man
Your mama sends her love across the miles
I just want to let let you know I'm your biggest fan
And the thought of you, brings many  smiles.

This is so sweet, Lorelei! So sad, though, that you aren't together.   As a mom, myself, I can feel for your pain.

Wish him a Happy Birthday from me too!

This one really touched me, Lorelei, without going into intimate detail, let me just say that I can relate to your poem!

Hope he feels the happiness and love in this poem across the miles!

This is a wonderful tribute, I am sure he will love it. Even through distance love is felt. They grow much too fast. Mine are not 16 yet but the time will come much too fast.

I too love this young man.  He's got his head screwed on right, and I respect the things he says and does.  As for my lil Lorelei - now does everybody see what a lucky man I am?  She's got two more boys coming along who are also terrific kids.  We miss them all.

As for me growing up in another four or five years... never!  Lorelei keeps me young and glad to be alive!  She is the living equivalent of the Fountain of Youth, and I love that girl so.

Incidently, that is NOT "the" chair.

Leave it to LJA to think about "the chair!"

Anyone know how to edit/delete photos?

Very sweet and loveing tribute to your son, Lorelei.  I like your picture and what a great smile!

In the dew of little things,
the heart finds its morning
and is refreshed.

LongJohn....I'm sorry man....I just made a typo...what Lorelei said was; "I'll be glad when LongJohn GROWS a manhood..."

Nice poem Lorelei, I can remember when I was that age.......JUST!!

Yes, I admit your general rule. That every poet is a fool:
But I myself may serve to show it. That every fool is not a poet.

Nice work, Lorelei. Nothing more touching than a mother's poem to her son. He has a great mother.....unlike test tube Toe.
