In the spring of march in seventy-seven,
A dove was sent that came from heaven.
God said; "Love and shelter this dove,
As in time to come she will return your love".
A beautiful sister he sent to me,
She giggled and laughed upon my knee.
I saw her crawl then learn to walk,
I was there when she started to talk.
At half past three i would run home to she,
Hoping my sister would play with me.
As the years rolled on our love grew strong,
I would tell her my secrets and all i did wrong.
At night when i had to go to bed,
I never wanted to snuggle a ted.
I would carry my sister into my room,
Together we would sleep under the moon.
Our teenage years held falling outs,
Never knowing what dad was about.
She loved and cared for that drunken man,
Standing by him when he hit our mam.
At last our father finally left,
My darling sister lost all her zest.
Bitter and twisted she soon become,
Believing and blaming it all on mum.
The years that followed were soon to tell,
That life with father was really Hell.
My sister at last she spread her wings,
Happy songs now she always sings.
I had a dream one summers night,
Of a white dove that was full in flight.
I know one day she will fly away..
But in my heart she will always stay.
