(to the tune of "Leaving on a Jet Plane")

Well, the sun is up. It's Monday morn
I'm feeling sad. I'm so forlorn
I had a yard sale all day yesterday.
I had to sadly bid adieu
To all the memories I once knew
Strangers came and took them all away

So say adios, my friends
This is where our story ends..
All the prized posessions I once had

Are leaving with some Haitian
New Yorkers on vacation, too
Oh, God, I feel so bad.

The baseball glove I used to own
Pet rocks and socks - my princess phone
The wedding ring I gave to what's-her-name
My lp's and my 8-tracks, too
All went for just a buck or two
What have I done? I feel so darn ashamed

They're leaving with some Haitian
New Yorkers on vacation, too
My memories have all flown
I'm all alone.

This is cute Balladeer.  But, you know, it was probably time to let the princess phone and 8 tracks go. LOL

I guess you're right, Eloise. The pet rocks, though, that was tough!

Yeah, I understand Balladeer.  But hey!  What about the mood rings?  Are you hoarding those?  That's what I would have bought!

Hey, now some of those things are collectable--one man's junk is another man's treasure.  Enjoyed the poem of course.

Balladeer I would have had a hard time letting the 8 tracks go. I wish I had know about yours. I still have mine. Even the one of "Leaving On A Jet Plane".   I liked this my friend. Cute.

Ahhhhh!  The baseball glove!  *sniff*

tch tch - oh 'deero oh 'deer. (I know - still the endless pun...)

Well - I don't know the song so that didn't help - but yes, the only word for this is cute. Hehe.

Well done, have fun - and junk is totally replacable - memories are not - sage advice from the Severny One.

One man's trash is another's treasure
This I know for fact
But since it looks so lovely in your home
I want it back!
This was hilarious, Mr B.

At least you chose to part with your "treasures." *G* I have a friend who still mourns (with good reason! *G*) the fact that his mom sold his baseball card collection while he was at college... someone got a signed Mickey Mantle card in a box she sold for $5!!!! Enjoyed the read, Balladeer... but everyone around me is gonna hate you for starting me singing! LOL

Listen Mike, if things get really bad and sellers remorse sets in, I happen to have 4 or 5 pet rocks around here someplace.  I'll be happy to send you one for a nominal adoption fee.  (Ingenious rhyming by the way)

This is so funny! I was just thinking yesterday, what will become of all my junk one day. I don't really have anything that I think anyone would want to buy! I remember 8 tracks! They weren't around too long were they? Wow, this took me all the way back to grade school! What a trip!

ok, Balledeer, please satisfy this relative newcomer's curiousity!

Where have thoust gone?  There seems to be a huge mystery (of mystery genre proportions)as to your whereabouts!

Thank you,

Curiously yours,

Corinne

p.s. 8 tracks are back, especially if you happen to drive a 60's muscle car!

You guys are hilarious.  Balladeer I just love your poetry.  It keeps me in stitches all day at work.  But I do have a question?
What is an 8 track, Mood Rings, and the Pet Rock thing? LOL
And before you ask, Yes I'm still considered a youngin!

8-Track! You sold your 8-track! Man if I had only known... we use those things around here at the station all the time! And I don't care what they say... Mama Cass ain't dead... she's on tour with the King south of the border.  Anyway... cool read there Sir Balladeer... dig the groovy sounds... now where are my colored specs and bell bottoms? Stay hip bro!

Balladeer -
My 8-track still plays the greatest hits.
I even have 'Elvis' UNOPENED ... guess that would mean that he hadn't left the building yet ?

Funny, my friend ...  hey, those 'New Yorker's' will just have a sale in April or May and you can go buy it back !

I would guess it's time for me to hold one of those too. Though my 8 tracks have been gone, but I still have those big albums, and they are a bit big for CD players these days.
Enjoyed this Balladeer!
