When cupid shot his arrow
It must have missed your heart.
For it seems you never cared
Right from the very start.

As I observed the scenes
That played out in my mind.
I realized those dreams
Were never mine to find.

The long awaited sadness
Pierced my heart at last.
You're no longer here anymore.
You are now part of my past.

As I turned and walked away
A tear fell from my eye.
But I didn't want you to see
That you had made me cry.

Simple, but this packs a powerful punch.  Sad and beautiful work, Eloise.

Very sad. Been there, done that! And I agree...never let them see you cry!

Nice poem, explains the way I've felt all to often perfectly.  But he saw me cry though I tried to hide it.

Thank you Krista.
Denise, I guess it's an experience along the road from which we learn from.
Deborah, thanks.  We have all been there at one time or another.

Eloise, this is very beautiful, yet so very sad. Well written!

But inside we DO want them to see us cry - and to care - just hard to admit I think.

Nicely done - I haven't forgotten you - I am e-mailing soon!

Don't be afraid to let them see you cry just a little. Its a part of being human and they may learn from it. I think we've all been there, I have too often.

Eloise -

Crying is nothing to be ashamed of - for women as well as for men.  Your poem is simple and yet suggests complex emotions that are very moving.
I have seen many women cry, and it was never anything that i regretted witnessing for it demonstrated trust in the relationship (romantic and friendly).  It is no longer the stereotype of weakness, but more a signifier of trust and comfort.  Nice work.

Eloise...this is so sad, but something very many of us can relate to....there is nothing so sad as unrequited love.
Big Hugs to you...
