Holding onto a past
controlling now and here
letting go of all the demons
conquering inlaid fears

My fear seems so tangible
thick walls surround my heart
you came to my protected world
to tear the walls apart

They will not fall, they cannot fall
please leave my room alone
I fought so hard to build my space
and call these walls my home

Then in the dwellings of my heart
you came to fill a space
you touched a wall with loving hands
the wall was then replaced

I cry with joy and then with pain
for fear shatters the light
I still have three walls standing tall
can I withstand the fight

Still you stand inside my room
a smile upon your face
you gently kiss another wall
the wall fell down with grace

The pounding of my heart
of which two walls still dwell
is fighting with the memories
of life, of love, then hell

Two walls remain inside my room
and still you stand inside
you grabbed my hand then held me close
the two walls left divide

My room feels oh so barren
yet it doesn't seem as cold
you have touched the inside of my heart
still fear presents the old

The ghosts do beckon to me
I fight them with your strength
I can't rebuild those four cold walls
and suffer life at length

Please be patient with my ghosts
and one by one they'll fall
then we can feel alive as one
to never scale those walls.

Very nicely done, lil Tamera.  I wonder if this is what happens with us all when we've been burned and then are offered another chance.

Tamera, I've not read many of your pieces, but see a lot of potential.  Good job!

Very well done...love the hope at the end.

And the imagery of ghosts - good job!

Thank you everyone...trying to love again is a tough job! But, I am trying. It is good to be able to get these thoughts and feelings out on paper.
Hugs to you all!!!
