The last rain poured that Spring night,
As they held each other together;warm and tight.
Without a word they moved closer to each other,
And finally breaking the silence he whispered he loved her.

Slowly, she turned to him and their eyes met,
He swears that within he saw the very sun set.
"I love you also, this day and everyday hereafter until the day I die,
Trembling with love, he kissed her, as a single tear escaped his eye.

He spent that night in the arms of his only true love,
His very own angel, heavensent from above.
Reminiscing of fantastic times of old,
And never worrying that the night would grow cold.

She had always been the perfect woman;his soulmate,
They were to marry that Summer;July 16th, was their date.
He swore to love and cherish her every day thereon,
To stand by her, no matter how hard, no matter how long.

Weeks passed and the death of a dear friend came,
His fiance was devastated; was never again the same.
She walled herself off, not allowing him to touch her heart,
And unfortunately, they began to grow apart.

And still, he knew that his love for her did remain,
he continued to shelter her, comfort her from the cold and the rain.

Then, unexpectedly, while at work he recieved a call,
A letter had been found stuck to her bedroom wall.

    It read:
"My dear, sweet love. Please forgive me.  I
never knew how strong my love for you could
be.  I am shamed by writing these words of
my love for you.  For words are so cold, so
unfeeling, no matter how true.  My heart is
is now dead, and if I can't love you the way
I wish to love you, then I choose not to love
at all.  That's what I wish to do.
                                  Your true love......

Tears flushed his face, as he listened to what the caller had to say,
Slowly, he began to feel his world, his life just slip away.

"Sir, your fiance....She's been found---dead.",
He dropped the phone not wanting to believe what the man had said.

"No!  No!!", He screamed.  "This can't be!",
"Got to see, will you allow me to see her?  Got to see!".

He arrived at her house completely hopeful,
That he would find intact, both her body and soul.
He walked inside and was held back;forced to his knee,
A large officer by the last name of Mack, wouldn't let him free.

"Got to see!  Got to see!"  He screamed.  "Please, I've got to see!".

After a few minutes he was walked into the bedroom,
Clothes were thrown about, but all he wanted was to see his love and soon.
There were pictures scattered everywhere,
And there she lay with nothing to wear.

He ran to her and knelt beside his love--his life,
"Wake up....Wake for me, PLEASE!  I want you to be my wife!".

"She overdosed on these sedatives, sir.",
The officers words meant nothing;just one complete blurr.
He kissed his true love one last time, as he was pulled away in all his pain,
Slowly, he began to make his way outside, disappearing in to the cold summer rain.

Days later another letter was found,
Damp in many places and completely browned.

    It read:
"My love, where are you?  I know you're here
for the sky is blue.  Please help me find you.
It's all I ever want to do!"

That man was seen one last time,
He had committed a horrible crime.
I suppose he couldn't live with his sorrow,
For he hadn't lived to see tomorrow.

The last true love that once was, is now gone,
And it's unfortunate that they couldn't find what went wrong.
Yet, I give them my blessings for a great try,
As I sit at my computer and cry......

Sorry that it's so long.  However, I felt I needed everything that was in there.  Alot was cut out already and I didn't want to leave too much out.  Thanks for all your patience.....

A very sad tale, Mark. It brought tears to my eyes. It shows the depths to which grief can plunge us.   Excellent writing and tastefully done. (no unnecessary 'shock value' type stuff)

Oh Mark, this is heartbreaking...Reminds me of a Romeo & Juliet tale....funny how people handle certain emotional situations.  There's just no predicting it sometimes, as you displayed here.  Fabulous tale sir, wish you hadn't of cut parts out though!  It's okay that it's a bit long - - well worth the time it took to read it!  *** curtsies

Thanks alot everyone. For some odd reason I just feel compelled to write about things that aren't always too "happy".  I like to remind people that everything that we have we've worked hard for, therefore we shouldn't take them for granted, no matter what they may be.  PFF, I'm sorry that you didn't get to read the complete version, I'm sure that you would've liked it.  I just felt that it was getting a little too long and people just wouldn't have the patience to read it all.  But thanks for showing some interest in it......
