Standing
at the edge Of a life that used to be
But never was,

Looking out for that horizon
But I'd rather catch a buzz,
One man is no man I know I am no man

Now I know
Now I know

Damn ashes Burning my fingers again,
Is that my soul Burning?

Can't make it to work again.

Flying in the wind,
Falling into the sand,
The water carries her away
Like she never was, Can't get her off my hand
My mind

Whoever said we get to be happy anyway?
What entitlement do we have?
2 years or 10 What difference does it make?

What do I teach my son about being happy though?
She asksódoctor 'we have to stop'
How can I teach my son what I never learned
what I never felt
what I never was
How can I teach my son?
What used to be
And never was

But the sun keeps rising
I am no man
Lost in the sand

(this was written in Feb 99-- I'm having a good day.. honest!)

LR: Nice you're philosophical today...it's superb!  I must be in your mind today, figuratively speaking..

fiercely philosophical I would say, this poem says so much about strength...and yet the lost feeling comes through so clearly...wow...excellent work my friend

I'd rather catch a Buzz, too.... but he's an elusive critter! *G*

Seriously (like that comment wasn't? *G*)... I liked your poem much! Well done!

Hawk

This was really deep - like some of your other work.

Ladies - in case you didn't know - old Rebel is about as versatile a guy as you will ever meet.  He's truly all class.

ROFL@Toe!!

I think the poem is great. It sets a tone and a mood easy to feel, almost melancholy in its style. Well done.
