In the space between moments

0 posted 2000-01-04 10:56 PM

This was written about a few friends of mine, actually, who have drown in their own sorrows and in turn left the people who loved them most.  Although they've returned to us, I know that many people do not.  I guess this is a lot like me too.

A fragile waterlily
Drifts in poison waters
An anguished deluge
Crumbling lustrous petals
The pain consuming
Like golden fire.

I see it in your eyes
The embers dying down
Silenced
By a seducing storm
Of thunderous grief.

If only I could banish
The pain that plagues you
Like a ravenous disease
I'd give my soul
To make yours whole.

But I cannot revive
A spirit killed
I can only make faded wishes
And ask the jaws of night
To return you to me.

Return, my crippled friend
Upon your sooted wings
Know yourself again
And in turn
Remember what we were.

Beautifully written piece, Krista, much enjoyed.  Something we've all gone through, it's wonderful we're still together.

Thank you, my friend.  We have indeed made it through a lot, and are still friends.  Hopefully it'll stay that way.

Well constructed - and full of sincerity Alwye: I'm impressed.

What a beautiful way to ask for someone to return to the way you knew them

Thank you all so much for your kindness.  I do believe that I should show this to a friend of mine that I may indeed lose..thanks again!

Such colorful language use! A very vivid and descriptive depiction. I like this!
