Until I Flutter with Midnight

Avalon,
I dream you
against the glitter
of your past.

I surrender to memory
that floats,
a seabird above
unblemished landscape.

I see the glorious
gown and gloves
sighing
with summer’s passion
when music pressed the walls
and weeped across the water
listening greenly darkly.

Your crescendo spent my whisper
on the portico
embraced by kisses
lost
     swept
across the parterre like a ballerina
the pastel flower of my dress rustles
and I succumb to romance
its splendid dance here
in eloquent silhouette
against the setting sun

Close now I dip
into the present to peek
and find you wrinkled and cracked
but through your windows
the cobwebs could almost be the gauze
of that dress
holding the years
holding your dear love
that delicate bloom
until I flutter
with midnight.

In the dew of little things,
the heart finds its morning
and is refreshed.
(ee cummings)

Comparing cobwebs with the gauze of the dress is excellent. May I ask which Avalon you are referring to? Great writing, as always.

Balladeer:  Avalon is a city on Catalina Island which is off the cost of Southern Calif.  The dancing is from the Casino, a huge ballroom that hosted the big bands and romance of many years ago.  < !signature-->

How 'bout phenomenal for a word?  You captured me and took me along with this beautiful piece.  I am truly impressed.

Martie~
I'm gonna start off with *hugging* Karilea's neck for bring this one back to the forefront-

THEN ... I'm gonna oooooh and ahhhhhh over the sheer imagery this one brought to mind.

Spinning me back to 19__ (Tee-Hee)
on the pier at Daytona Beach ... dancing my youth in the arms of my college sweetheart !
Oh, Frank S., where are you now ?

What a wonderful and magical journey you've set my mind on ....
BEAUTIFUL ... just beautiful ! !

Great BIG HUGS for this one.
