  I like to write poems
it's an addiction to me,
poems about love and lifes realities,
I write about the weather
sometimes fishing agrees,
but mostly I write about sailing the sea.

Sailing the sea Yeah! sailing the sea
I like to write poems about sailing the sea,
I'm not quite sure why they come easy to me,
guess I just like to sail the sea.

My father flys a plane
he flys high in the sky,
looks down from up there
and watches clouds floating by,
he's free as a bird
don't have to ask why?
just look in his eye
he likes to fly in the sky.

My friend named Dan is like a brother to me,
we fish down by the river almost constantly,
when he went to Canada his pole he would take,
because his fiance Lise she used to live on a lake.
So he was fishing a lake Yeah! fishing a lake,
brother Dan he liked to fish the lake,
never knew how many fish he would take,
as long as Dan could fish the lake.

Now Steve and Ed they live out in Utah
seems like they have no problems at all,
I invision they ski all day and party all night,
with brains that are loose, bindings are tight.
They don't consider Wednesday a day with a hump,
they're much too busy out there skiing the bumps.
Skiing the bumps Yeah! skiing the bumps
Steve and Ed they like to ski the bumps
stay on the snow maybe take the next jump
but Steve and Ed like to ski the bumps.

I like to sail the sea,
fly the sky,
fish a lake,
or ski the bumps.

And, I like to write poems.

Paul - You're too funny - writing a poem about writing a poem...
I can't wait to read all the ones about sailing the sea.....

Very light and lilting.  Do you have a tune to go with it yet?

Someday I hope, to also write poems,
It may take years, and about "what" is unknown
It's just something I'll work on, but my chances are slim,
But this is where I'll post one, if I ever can.

Refreshingly simplistic and carefree...reminds me of some of Woody Guthrie's lighter moments, like "Take Me a Ride in Your Car." (wasn't that Woody? or was it Pete Seeger?? memory betrays me!) At any rate, I enjoyed your poem/song!

You'll have to take me sailing with you sometime, Paul.  There's nothing so wonderful in the world.
