I saw you laughing in a photograph,
It was faded and worn,
But it seemed like yesterday.
We were sitting on the stadium rail,
Our jeans were torn,
And it was a cool fall day.

And we were smiling then,
You know you always say cheese,
When the camera’s around.
And we had big dreams then,
We were eager to please,
We were young and proud.

But, there aren’t any camera’s here today.

Family pictures up and down the hall,
You know my daughter
Looks a lot like her great grandma.
There’s the grandpa that I never knew,
I always wondered,
How he felt when he escaped the law.

And they were smiling then,
You know they always dressed up,
When the camera was around.
And they had big dreams then,
But they never guessed where,
All their children were bound.

But, there aren’t any camera’s here today.

I saw a picture of mom,
You know she would’ve wanted to see,
This one of us at the prom.
You were wearing that peach colored dress,
And I had on that tux,
With a ruffled shirt and vest.

I’ll bet she was smiling then,
Any time something big was goin on,
She had the camera around.
She must’ve had big dreams then,
But, we had to move on
And…
I hope you two are getting along….

And maybe there’s camera’s there today.

A well written piece Mr. Rebel full of feeling.

Well done.

Craig

Yes, I admit your general rule. That every poet is a fool:
But I myself may serve to show it. That every fool is not a poet.

Very nostalgic. A bit sad, yet wonderful. I enjoyed this very much.

I liked this one a lot.  It has a sort of haunting, secret undertone that I think is appealing.  Nice work

These words cause my heart to pound in recollection...I would also like to  think there are cameras. of a sort, there. You've written this beautifully.

Thanks very much to all.  I originally wrote this one as a song long ago, but, truthfully never liked it very much.  It seems to work better as poetry but it's still a tad bit out of my style.

Thanks all again.

Out of your style it may be but the emotion makes it. Good thoughts.

A very unique introspective.  It's amazing the power a photograph can hold...and the way they can link us to to different times, and different people.  I'm glad you dug this one out, it's truly a fine work.

What gems one finds when venturing into the back pages    I'm trying to catch up on all I've missed (an impossible task, I know) but I'm glad to have found this one.  LR...this is great. Bravo
