(This is my interpretation of the photograph presented in Hoot's challenge)

THE HAND OF GOD

It is the hand of God
bringing forth His own likeness

It is the birth of a spirit
the passing of one life on to another

it is the product of
life's yearning for itself
the perpetual motion of the soul
a part of the Heavenly Spirit
being reborn into human flesh
in innocence, purity, and beauty

it is the hand of God
cradling His likeness
comforting the soul
and welcoming it onto the earth
for one more attempt
one more human lifetime in which to try
to achieve the final destination

to reach the spiritual level of Light
of Love, of Himself

a soul about to to embark on the journey
set out by God

This is
Life Itself
cradled in the purpose of life

This is the child of God
This is His creation

This is a baby

Liz

This was great.  I like the way you built up the topic with layers of texture, always keeping the subject of the poem in the foreground.  I especially like the undertones of hope and promise.  This was a very positive, uplifting poem.
