If I could be the world to you,
~First Knight~

If I could be the world to you, I
think I would be a star,

High above this world I'd be,
watching from afar.

If I could be the world to you, I
think I would be the sea.

Water I would give to you,
Drinking just from me.

If I could be the world to you, I
think I would be the moon.

Shining bright in darkness,
Medicine from my spoon.

If I could be the world to you, I
think I would be the Sun.

Greetings in the morning, My
giving never done.

If I could be the world to you, I
think I would be space,

Giving you all the room you need, Yet found in every place.

If I could be the world to you, I
think I would be the rain,

Wash away your troubles, Wash
them down the drain,

If I could be the world to you, I
think it is quite clear,

Nothing I wouldn't do for you,
Nothing my sweet dear.

I have learned that the pain of a lost love will fade, But the memory of having loved will last forever.

Poignantly beautiful!

 It matters not how strait the gate;
How charged with punishments the scroll;
I am the master of my fate:
I am the captain of my soul.

I like what you've done here.  It's good to see a poem with structure under it.  So many have no bones.

If that star should fall
Would you catch it in the air
And grasp it from the sky for me
For you and I to share?

If the seas would all go dry
I ask of you, what then
Would you go to oceans wide
And fill them all again?

And if the moonlight faded
Giving rise to dark
Would the love you have for me
Guide me with it's spark?

And if the sunlight faltered
If morning never came
In the dark that once was day
Would you feel the same?

And in the vastness of all space
All distance and all time
Would you find your way to me
To prove that you were mine?

If the raindrops never ceased
And water claimed the land
Would you then set sail to find me
To hold onto my hand?

And if you were the world to me
The rain, the skies, the space
Would I see a love that's true
When I looked upon your face?

Very beautiful poem David, as you can see...inspiring

Excellent poem, David. ...and, Hoot, even as an innocent bystander, I think I can answer the questions your poem asks.

You question what I give to thee, My heart is bleeding well.
Crushed beneath your words of doubt Ending life and dreams about.

Doing all I can do, Being close and loving you.
Lost within your words I do fall, Without your faith I feel so small.

I have learned that the pain of a lost love will fade, But the memory of having loved will last forever.

I don't mean to cause your heart to bleed
That was never my intention
And how your words they touch my heart
So I need some protection
I can not give my heart to you
Not in your situation
Having my one heart broke in two
Doesn't figure in my equation

What a way with words you have, your emotions bleed right through. If we could all have a romantic like you the world would be in glee.

Sometimes packing to much into your suitcase makes for a heavy load.
