Relentless cold draws warmth from bone
Labored breaths fuel feet of stone
Leaden skies shade all to gray
As the night o'er takes the day

Weight of burdens carried far
Those within the more so are
Combined almost too much to bear
Would they were expelled as air

Crystallized by frigid blasts
Encrypted in the ice of past
Left behind entombed in white
Forever driven from minds sight

Plodding steps may find new ease
Warmth return by kind degrees
Vast expanses travelled light
If convinced what's done is right

This is excellent!  Delicately worded, beautifully rhyming, poignant and haunting, I love this poem!

Now that my head is sufficiently swelled from all of your kind remarks ...here goes.

d.
Glad you enjoyed this , as I have so many of your postings .
hoot,
Likewise , as I am most often pleaseantly surprised by yours.
Echo,
Thanks , at the risk of sounding redundant ,
I have also enjoyed your writing too.
Rosemary,
I've only read a few of your works (recently)
but have enjoyed the insight shown.Your comments are much appreciated.

Being feeble minded
And running out time

Doc,
Your poem is as solid as a rock
And my heart it did unlock.
Your rhyme and verse is very good
And every word I understood.

Wow.  Lovely!  I can't imagine much more to hit so close inside with writing.  Very beautiful.

Sy,
Thanks . At times the distance between head and heart seems shorter , although I have no idea why .
