When the time comes on New Year's Eve,
To join hands and sing Old Lang Syne,
I remember a favourite uncle of mine,
Who made it fun for a young child at the time.

I thought it was all so daggy,
Holding hands and singing that silly song,
But only Uncle Graham made the night fun,
Our night filled with laughter all night long.

He was such a funny fellow,
Played with me just like a kid,
Sneaking more lollies my way,
Always loving and special the things he did.

He has been gone some 15 years,
I still miss him and remember him fondly,
If I could have just one wish,
It'd be that Graham could spend one last New Year's with me.

So when I hear that song at midnight,
My heart won't be truly glad,
It'll be remembering a long gone loved one,
I always shed a small tear, it's kind of sad.

I wish he hadn't died,
Wish he was still here with us all,
But Graham know I'm thinking of you,
And loving you, in my eyes you didn't fall..

HAPPY NEW YEAR GAY GAY....

Dear Isis,
What a sweet poem from a sweet niece. How lucky you were to have him in your life.
Isis, please clue me in, what does "daggy" mean?
New years hugs,
Liz

Isis: Big HUGS

Don't ask me where I'm going, just listen when I'm gone and far away you'll hear me singing softly to the dawn.

I sympathize with you, Isis. I, too, will be thinking of my loved ones who didn't make it to this most special of New Years celebrations, my Mom, Dad, aunts, uncles, grandparent's, etc. It does make one sad, missing them so much. But all we can do is look forward and appreciate the loved ones that we are still here with and give our grieving hearts to the safekeeping of the Lord, who fully understands our heartache. This poem is absolutely beautiful. Have a safe and blessed New Year!

Thanks everyone, New Year has clicked over here in Oz quite peacefully not a problem anywhere (touch wood!
Elizabeth 'daggy' means a kids word for feeling stupid, useless or dumb.    OR
we sometimes say 'OH that outfit or shirt is so daggy!' like in ugly, out of fashion, nerdy, get it off!!!!
Thanks everyone for liking the poem, I did think of him and others that are gone when we sang Old Lang Syne.

Isis, my friend - how touching this is. And what a sweet person you are for writing such a piece.

Many hugs - his memory is treasured through you and your words.
