Shy flower
daily God tends to your needs
with the full sun of high summer
caressing you
with gentle persuasion to grow
rain cascading from on high
drips from leaf to leaf
finally to land upon
the fertile richness of mother earth
where thirsty roots drink deep.
Each day brings you closer
to opening
closer to your full bloom
ringing the world with delicate perfume.
Each dawn finds me
in rapt adoration
of the wonder
contained within you
each day I pray
you will burst forth
that every eye
may witness God's grandeur
and revel in your beauty
yet I am content
to await that glorious day.
Shy flower
you have but a season
to reap life's rewards
for beauty fades
and sweet perfume becomes decay
your petals will droop
and fall to mother earth.
The legacy left for the world
will be but the memory of grace and beauty
and your seeds,
each promising,
shy flower,
you will have your season again.

BRAVO!  I agree with Hoot Owl!
Go with the free verse!

Not only that, the message to one you love is beautiful as well.  The imagery of the water falling and nourishing....the whole piece paints a colorful and enraptured picture.

Thank YOU!

I must admit that at first glance I was taken aback by seeing your name next to a title such as this one, my friend ... but I am glad I decided to read it anyway.  This is a beautiful portait of the simultaneous strength and fragility of both love and the human spirit.

Well done ...

To every thing there is a season my friend, methinks that all seasons are appropriate for verse such as this!
