People say I'm too sensitive
That I take too many things to heart
That they don't need my compassion
And would be better off without me
Trying to give them a shoulder to cry on

People say I care too much
That I have nothing but pity
That I wear a mask of concern
And I should just be a little more human
Instead of being so humane

The rock being pushed on me
Was beginning to wear me down
And finally I was beginning to break
As my heart pulled away to freeze

But then I met you
You said that you really cared
You said that nothing more could be more beautiful
In my heart than my sensivity and my love
You said that I was your only one
You said that nothing more you could ever want
Was everything in me

People say I think too much
That I shouldn't be able to see into their hearts
That I shouldn't be able hear the whispers of minds
And would be still just as happy as they say they are
Without the little friendly smile I send their way

People say I know more than I should
That I shouldn't be so enchanting
That I shouldn't be so friendly
And know what they want so soon
Then try to grant their wish like a star I never knew

But now I'm alone
With only the sensitivity and love you said you cherished
You seem to still love me, I can feel, hear and see it
And I've heard you whisper my name more than as a friend
But I knew that if I truly loved you, I would listen to what my heart says
And keep faith that if I set you free despite the pain
My hunter's falcon would come back again

People say that sensitivy is a waste
That I shouldn't use the little time on the emotion
That I would only get hurt
And that I should just give up that one little feeling
For the cold politeness that we all show

Sensitivity is useless
If can only hurt you
One day you will grow cold
Because of your foolish compassion
For people who would never care
About the things you care about

I shrug it off as best I can
Crying when I can't forget their disapproval
I wish that this emotion was what they say it is
But deep inside my spirit, my heart, and my mind
I know that everything would fall apart
Without just a little
Yes, even from me,
Sensivity

This is beautiful.  You should not let others disaproval of you get you down, (though I shouldn't be talking cause i do the same thing).  Be who you are, and that is all you ever need to be no matter what anyone says.  Every now and then sensitive people get hurt, but who do the insensitive people turn to when they get hurt?? US, the sensitive ones, the ones to calm their hurts.  I loved your poem, very emotional!

Wonderful poem! And I agree, don't ever change! There is too much insensitivity in this world already and not enough of the sensitive ones!
