Lessons that Time Teaches

I hear voices
blazing with knowledge,
dredged from years
of becoming and beginning,
they shout the night
and still the day.
It is my voice multiplied.

My voice from before
it had reason,
the voice passed to me
from the rough file
and texture of living,
the ancestor of my eyes
and the color of my mood.

It tells me secrets
that I feel beneath
the fabric of my skin.
It uncovers the wholeness
of what grows and entangles,
what reaps and purifies minutes.

The mother of my mother
with her white shroud
and the gold nugget
of time wrapped around
her memory
has requested my spirit
to listen.

Listen to lessons
that time teaches.

In the dew of little things,
the heart finds its morning
and is refreshed.
(ee cummings)

The lessons we ignore Time always seems willing to reteach us too, I've noticed.  Very gentle and sweet words, but very strong in meaning.  Well done, Martie.
