The Knowing

My minds eye holds pictures
Clearly as the day
A young woman of lovely features
Before love seeped away

Once solid as granite
How could it so dissolve
Was in the taking for granted
My lack of clear resolve

For I did not know then
What I now know
I would never be forgiven
For stemming your loves flow

I have reaped
As I have sown
When death up to you sneaked
In my presence you felt alone

Was then you became hard
And I realized
My hand held not the card
Nor the love in your eyes

I still remember
My heart still fells the shame
Like the winds of December
How I blew out the flame

Very nicely written, beautiful and sad. I especially like the last few lines.

How sad.  I can connect with this one.  Very lovely, very beautiful.
