It was New Year’s Eve for Passion’s poets
gathered in my midnight reverie
Everyone was joyfully mingling
On this night of fun and revelry!

Michael and Femme standing hand in hand
Sharing a story with Nan and Balladeer
There stood Long John and his Lorelei
As Toerag waxed poetic about beer

Iloveit, suthern and RainbowGirl
Giggled wickedly behind Toe’s back
At the table Marge, Pepper and Severn
Ate Vienna sausages for a snack

The band began to play a tango
As Gunslinger took to the floor
He partnered Denise and Sunshine
Till they were upstaged by dancing Seymour

I looked over in the corner and
Saw DreamEvil in conversation
With Christopher, Kess and Satiate
About where to get inspiration

Darquewing, WhtDove and NightAngeL
Were watching each twinkling light
Elizabeth, Echo and Sally argued semantics
With Lost Dreamer and First_Knight

Perched on bar stools sipping white wine
Were Alicat, LadyCat and Hoot
Craig was reciting a poem he wrote
A foolish one that was really quite cute

Elizabeth Santos and roxane
Isis and Saxoness
Were marveling at the ladies
In all their fancy dress

Brad and Doreen held court
At a table in the back
Alwye and Andrew took notes
On their discussion iambic

Marilyn and Caroline raptly listened
To Tim’s court appointed tales
While Tara, Julie and jbouder
Discussed poetry book sales

But when the clock on the wall
Chimed eleven fifty nine
All poets stood and joined hands
To sing Auld Lang Syne

As the bells around the world
Proclaimed the brand New Year
I leaned over to Ron
And whispered in his ear

“The home you have created
Is filled with love and good cheer
We thank you for all you’ve done
To make us welcome here

There is a saying you may know
What you do at the end of a year
Is what you will do in the new one
So chose your activity wisely, dear.

This year on the last stroke of the clock
I’ll spend my time at home
Drinking to Passion’s health
And writing another poem!

And a Happy New Year to you Sharon from Craig, Coof and Coegwyr. ( Where are all the walls when you want one )

Yes, I admit your general rule. That every poet is a fool:
But I myself may serve to show it. That every fool is not a poet.

Well Lady DeVine... How nice of you to take note of my presence.  I am truly flattered and I raise a glass to you as well.  I enjoyed the party and I liked the way things ended... you are a kind host and may we have many years together within these poetic halls.  A glass to Ron as well.  Happy New Year!

A resolution...a few - to be published - OK, to even GET the poems in an envelope would be a good start...!
To, well, just survive the punches life hasn't bothered to pull.

(And as for Miss Caroline I saw her stuffing whole bottles of gin down her dress! Tch tch - and she was pretending to listen...)

I'll be here writing (and drinking whiskey)
I have to say I loved these two versus:

As the bells around the world
Proclaimed the brand New Year
I leaned over to Ron
And whispered in his ear

“The home you have created
Is filled with love and good cheer
We thank you for all you’ve done
To make us welcome here

Well I am feel honored to even be mentioned, but why would I be arguing semantics?? I don't know the meaning of anything LoL and and and I don't like to argue hehe j/k I love to argue and discuss historical and psychological classifications of words and forms in linguistic development!  I do love the poem though, and I too would like to thank Ron for all he has done to make us feel welcome here!

I am honored to have made a cameo here, but allow me to let you in on a little secret -- were I in such bright company, I would NOT be standing around talking about where to get inspiration!!

My resolution?  Well, I would have to say first and foremost that I resolve to find someone other than my cat and/or best friend to kiss at midnight come New Year's 2001!

Excellent verse, Sharon, and may your New Year's be as decadent as I am hoping for my own! (hehehehe)  Start 2000 off with a hangover, that's my motto -- that way I'll be too busy to worry about Y2K!
