This is for my son...

You are my angel, you light up my days,
you give me the strength to help find my way.
You came to me on a warm summer eve,
you were placed in my arms and I couldn't believe-
God gave me this precious gift of love,
I knew I was blessed from the heavens above.
A free spirit you were from the very start,
from that moment on you stole mommy's heart.
We have had our times of trouble and pain,
together we've grown, and love surely gained.
It seems like only yesterday I could hold you in my arms,
I would rock you and sing to you, then you'd smile with that charm.
That smile would always make my heart sing,
and your laughter could take away most anything.
And your sparkling blue eyes filled with wonder and awe,
life was a mystery in all that you saw.
I can still feel your tiny soft hand in mine,
and your small arms around me I still try to find.
Yet now you are coming into your own,
and finding your way through this journey unknown.
We have faced heartache time and again,
your strength I am proud of, you have been my bestfriend.
We won't always agree on what's right and wrong,
always know I am here, that you always belong.
I am here to help guide you, give you comfort and love,
You can draw on my strength, ask for guidance above.
If there is one thing in life I can say I did right,
it would be being your mother and sharing your life.
The pride I feel when I look in your eyes,
is enormous to me, you are where my heart lies.
You have such a kind heart and spirit that grows,
with each passing day it truly does show.
So hold onto that heart, yet share it with some,
and a wonderful young man you are sure to become.
I want to thank you for all you have given to me,
your love, your strength, and your courage to be.
I am proud of you for all that you are, forever my angel, my bright shining star.

You pulled off these long lines well.....Wrote with grace....and the subject matter makes it all the better...Thank you

Tamera--I only wish I had read this before today. It is absolutely beautiful. Isn't it funny how our kids can inspire us? There is a point in life when you realize how blessed we have been.

Tamera this is beautiful.  I wrote one for my son Dylan, it send the same as yours, but still you never feel like you really portrayed your love for them properly.  Or at least that is how I felt..
I love my little man more than anything else in my life, they are such a joy to have.
Beautiful piece, and I know exactly where you are coming from
