Hi-Yo ! Silver ! ... Away !
~Marge Tindal~ 1999

When The Lone Ranger got
to Heaven's gates ...
waiting to show him in
was Tonto,
his 'faithful Indian companion'
and friend.

The Masked Man showed him
the silver bullet in his hand ...
Tonto said ... Welcome 'Kemo Sabe'
And the angel's now shout ..
Welcome, my friend ... 'Trusty Scout'.

In the western sky
they ride ...
The Lone Ranger on Silver ..
Tonto by his side.
Hi-Yo ! Silver ! Away ! ...
The Lone Ranger rides again !

*A tribute to Clayton Moore,
of the legend of The Lone Ranger.

A beautiful tribute, Marge. Another piece of our childhood gone. Sad. I didn't know that he died.

Thank you and PD for letting me in on the news, no matter how sad it may be!  I'll have a silent thought for our childhood as well!

Denise -
Part of my Saturday at the movies
for many years of my childhood.
Thank you.

Whiskey -
Thanks for your kind words.

Devina -
None of us will ever hear
The William Tell Overture without
remembering The Lone Ranger, huh?

Poet deVine -
Thanks to YOU for the inspiration.
I've been a fan for a long, long time.
As a very little girl, my Grandmother was
a fan of William Boyd, as Hopalong Cassidy ... she left the legacy of the cowboys for me to follow.
The graphics are part of my ongoing collection.  Thanks ... ~*Marge*~

Echo -
Thank you for liking.

PoetdeVine you make me feel so old. The Lone Ranger was my idol, as well as Hopalong Cassidy, Gene Autrey, The Cisco Kid, and Roy Rogers (and Sky King). Before we had Tv we used to turn out all the lights, turn on the radio and sit in the dark to listen to the Lone Ranger, and the images were very clear, indeed. I didn't know he died. Thanks, Marge

Oh, such memories--the sound of hoof beats to the child in me still ring.  Delightful poem Marge.

Oh, Elizabeth, my friend ...
some 'memory-shakers' just for you.

...Out of the clear blue of the western sky comes SKY KING !

Gene Autry ... The Singing Cowboy ...
'Back In The Saddle Again'

Roy Rogers ... The King Of The Cowboys ...
'Happy Trails To You'

Duncan Renaldo as The Cisco Kid ...
South Of Rio Grande

Hopalong Cassidy - William Boyd ...
true gentleman of the "Old West"
and his horse Topper.

Martie -
I, too, hear the rumble of hoofs across the evening sky.

Hoot -
So very, very pleased that you like.

*Thanks all ..... ~*Marge*~

Great tribute, Marge. Just as a footnote, when I lived in South America, the Lone Ranger program was very popular. "Tonto" in Spanish means stupid and they would die laughing everytime the LOne Ranger said, "Come, Tonto!" Used to crack me up!

On a serious note, Clayton Moore was definitely a national treasure. He will be missed...and Jay Silverheels will always be Tonto to me.

Balladeer -

So glad you enjoyed the tribute.
I agree that Clayton Moore was
a treasure ....
and of course, Jay Silverheels,
a Canadian-born Indian born to
a Mowhawk chief was and will remain
Tonto ... to us all.

Thanks, Kemo-Sabe !
