One moment

How long can a moment be?
Tick, tock, tick, tock,
The hands fly by, buzzing, whirling, flying, slowly
"In a moment," they cry, always thinking of an excuse, "and I'll be right there!"
One moment.

How long?
Tick..tock..tick..tock
In a moment, a kiss could end
In a moment, a life could be saved
In a moment, a tear could be cried
"Wait one moment," they say, always telling you to wait
One moment.

Why should I wait one moment?
Why should I listen then as now?
Tick...tock...tick...
In a moment, I would be crying
And I couldn't wait a moment
To stop
To listen
To wait
For you?
"I'll be right there in a moment," they say, and never seem to come back quickly enough
One moment.

Where are you?
Why have you left me?
How long with this moment last?
Ticking away, tocking away
You can't stop the sand from falling
"Be with you in a moment," they whisper, too quiet, too loud
Too everything but not here
Now
Tick....tock....

One life, one moment
One bat of an eye and a life is gone
How long is a moment?
Can you tell me the time?
When will you be back?
"One moment."
Too long
Too much
...tick...
Not enough.

The longer you live, the faster the moments go, the more pleasure in the moment the faster it goes and waiting for some reason takes forever.  Go figure.  Liked your poem and your syle.

the heart finds its morning
and is refreshed.
