The Library

I chanced upon the door ajar
The secret chamber soft exposed
And stood in want to shyly enter
Hidden mysteries to disclose

Left unlocked in beckoned open
Begging entrance, luring sin
I looked about and in my daring
Tiptoed gently to within

Uninvited was my spirit
Unpretentious was my mood
Unintending the intrusion
But so enticing was the food

I closed the heavy door behind me
A candelabra hung in space
It mirrored light upon the walls
And prismed glow upon my face

It was a library I had found there
A wealth of knowledge and of thought
And at once I felt intuitive
Veneration that it wrought

A vision of his essence
This private place of soul's domain
Walls of wisdom stacked in volumes
Books with gold etched in his name

An intrusion of his private world
This intimate place of his retire
But warm and welcome was my presence
Like the glow of embered fire

In ravenous curiousity
To examine close the room
My longing eyes then wandered
Every object to consume

Walls trimmed in old mahogany
Mellowed deep like vintage wine
Surrounded me with warm embrace
Enhanced in beauty, aged with time

A weathered chair of softened leather
The solemn comfort of his want
And on the table books in reading
Likes of Gadamer and Kant

On the shelves were tales of China
India's most beloved lore
Works of Africa and Asia
Well used books of ancient yore

And then the crystal lighting
Fell upon a wooden shelf
It was filled with his own poetry
A reflection of himself

Then knowing all the secrets
Of the library I had found
I quietly left the chamber
To the silence of its sound

But glancing back through opened door
My happy heart awoke to find
It was not a library chamber
It was a window to his mind

Wow!  This is wonderful.

the heart finds its morning
and is refreshed.

Elizabeth,
Another epopee and it reads like it was writ
to me.
I cannot say how well you write and what it means to see.
I love your mind, I love your pen and I love everything you send.
But I don't know if I can keep up
With the depth of your well my friend.
Love Sy

Elizabeth - I too, have to echo all of the above.

You reflect all your thoughts
Through your pen and your paper.
And line after line
Is another line to treasure.

So eloquently put
Are the words that you write.
Your emotions flow through
With readers delight.

As I once again read
Your masterpiece of rhyme.
There's no way to stop
The passing of time.

Echo,
Thank you

Severn
I'm known to be ferocious
With pen in clutching claw
I write a lion's lyric
Which roars throughout the hall
You are so cute!
Thanks,
Liz

Elizabeth, my friend ...
You KNOW I love this.

You and Seymour complement one another's
poetry so well.
Mirrored muses ...
a sheer delight to the reader's eye.
Thanks to you both for the
absolute delight of your poetry.
