Slowly through the darkness
Two gray shapes moved forward on
Neither bearing likeness
Neither straying, forward on.
They move in time to nothing
Slowly riding forward on
Riding on gray horses
Moving constant forward on.
No sound escapes from them
Moving silent forward on.
Not one thing between them
Still they're moving forward on.
Perhaps they'll reach their goal
Moving always forward on.
And find peace for their souls
Moving on toward the dawn.

Knowlege tempered by wisdom...Wisdom tamed by youth.

Repetition of the 'forward moving on' line makes this feel like a ride in truth..very rhythmic! I like it.

This is haunting, compelling. The rhythm (and equine reference, admittedly) reminds me of "The Highwayman." I enjoyed it very much.

Very rhythmic in it's nature...I couldn't help but think of..."Onward, onward marched the five hundred..."

Thanks all!  The more I wrote the more monotonous this one got, so I had to end it with the dawn in sight.

Sounds like this was a depressing day, from "zero" up to "forward on", what comes next? Mom

You impress me with the way you can express yourself in all facets of the emotions.  Be it high or low or anywhere in between, you do an excellent job.  Love your thoughts, feelings, and poetry.  I feel, if I'm not wrong, that this poetry forum has been like a good medicine unto your soul.  You sure have contributed some excellent renderings for all to read.  It seems the more you share, the more you get and all good things come down from the Father above.  James

Not really so much depressed as post-Christmas blues.  I wish the two of you could have stayed a little longer or that I could have gotten away to go to Rogers for a little bit to see Grandma but it didn't happen.  As for New Years, I'll be off Friday but have to work 10 hours on Saturday and maybe Sunday due to Y2K.  I think they expect the world to stop and if it does I might step off and see if I can fix it.
