We watch with amazement
As evening is near.
The beauty of nature
In our earthly sphere.
The sun as it's setting
Across mountains so fine.
The beautiful sunset with colors divine.
Lets one know, that evening,
Is not far behind.

But the light of the moon
As it climbs to its height.
Changes the evening
To the stillness of night.
Twinkling stars
In the heavens so bright,
Invite us to look
At the splendors of night.

Very beautiful work here....

I enjoyed this...it draws nighttime near to the reader.

Eloise - this is wonderful, my friend, just wonderful - makes me want to run out and look at a sunset (if only it wasn't the middle of the night!)

Krista, Meadowmuse, whiskey, Kamla, Marge and Elizabeth - Thank you all for reading and your kind comments. This was actually the very first poem that I ever wrote oh-so many years ago.  We won't disclose how many! LOL Just thought I would pull it out of the bottom of the pile after seeing that beautiful full moon a few nights ago.

Beautiful poem, you describe the splendors of night very well!

Thanks Echo.  Actually the night splendors speak for themselves.  I so enjoy the evening sunsets.

Loved it.  Capturing nighttime in a poem is very difficult.  But this get very close.

Our vision of the world at night - is just so much more "universal" than our insular sun-drenched view by day, isn't it?..Nice job, El...
