A people with no country-
A team without a goal,
A song without it’s music
A man without a soul....

A fire without it’s warming rays
A day without it’s light
A lifeless sea, and lifeless land-
A starless. moonless night.

How vain all these might seem to be
The bottom line, it's true-
That none of these are so forlorn
As me, here, without you.

A toast, a smile, a long range kiss
Some way to touch your heart-
On this a very special day,
Yet we are far apart.

We are, and thus we will remain-
Forevermore, I fear....
And yet I love you all the more-
I really do, my dear.

Merry Christmas? Probably not-
I wanted you to know-
You haunt my days, and fill my nights
Where ever I may go.

I’ve said it all so many times-
Time and again I try...
To make it real for both of us
But there are no "good" goodbyes.

Excellent as always GS.  And you're right there never are good good-byes.

Excellent G.S  I like this a lot!

Such a simple and poignant piece, deftly rhymed, with your everpresent insightful, poetic indicia.

What a great poem..so true, goodbye doesn't exist really, for how do we ever say goodbye to those who remain in our hearts forever...

I don't believe there is anyone who cannot relate to that in some way.  Bravo.
