I will be glad to see this year
Go and fade away
For it has been a tough one
Trying me each day

So many things can happen
In so short a time
Way too many accidents
Not enough silver dimes

For me a trip to ER
Was feeling pretty sick
Wasn't breathing very well
That was no picnic

One daughter fell and broke her arm
Surgery and 4 pins
I'm glad that it's now over
Then the other stuff begins

My hubby went in too
For surgery on his spine
A bone graph and ruptured disc
Made his movements decline

One more trip for him
Into the hospital
Food poisoning from chicken
Left him cramping in his abdominal

Then there's poor 'lil Ashley
Who had taken quite the fall
And was injured quite seriously
This year has been no ball

Once again the older one
Fell and fractured wrist
Now she's in a splint
And well, you get the jist

Though we all came out alright
This year has been real long
I'm ready for a new one
And I'll jump in headlong

For those who've had a bad year
I hope the New one brings
Happiness and better times
And all those wonderful things

For it has got to get better
This year I'm glad is gone
For when the clock strikes midnight
I'll be singing a goodbye song!

PS The bad chicken wasn't from me either, it was from a restaurant. LOL

I agree with you Rebecca, I will be glad to see the year end too.  The only bad thing, is I dont know what to get my mom for her birthday which is on the 30th of this month *sigh*

May the new year be full of wonderous things for you.

It's fantasy. But if it contains a piece of me doesn't that make it as real as I am?

I hope this year is a much better year for you also...although I know how bad years can get and don't expect any to be as bad as the past one has been for me.

WhtDove, Having raised a family, I am familiar with those years you describe. Everything seems to happen at once. Next year will be better for you, I promise. God bless you and your loved ones.

1999 has been a strange year for me...ups and downs...we've had three very sudden deaths at work...and there's been illness and accidents...but we've learned from all this..learned to take life one day at a time and to tell someone that you care for them...the next year will be a good one! I can feel it! Good poem, Rebecca!

WhtDove I wish for you a very beautiful year full of love and laughter. I will be glad when this year has ended also. Who knows maybe love is waiting in the new one. I only vow to keep searching. Love the poem.

I, too, wish you a blessed new year. You've certainly had your share of misery. Here's to 2000!

p.s. your kiddies sound much like me when I was little!  Sooooo accident prone! Still am, I guess...I broke my elbow from a fall...after the blizzard of '96...the E.R.staff sure had a laugh on me! Everyone asked...."Did you slip and fall on the ice" (like most of the people there)...When I said no, I tripped over my own two feet...they laughed and said I should just have said I slipped on the ice!

Hang in there, Rebecca! One day at a time!

Thank you Denise and I wish you a blessed New Year too!

Actually my oldest daughter is the one who has gotten hurt the most. This year it's been twice for her...but since she's been small, she falls and fractures her wrist or something or other.  Better times are coming. Thank you Denise!

I loved your poem!  Such a year you've had!  My own year has been exceptionally dreadful, as well; and next year has just got to be better!  I'm looking forward to easier times!

Sorry 1999 was hellish for you. It was ok for me, but I know others, who too, felt they had been singled out for a year of torture. I think there must be some mysterious cycle of ugliness that grabs hold and attaches itself to us for a while, like a virus, and if it doesn't kill us, eventually lets go. Hope it's paying attention to the calendar. Best of luck for the new year and keep on writing poems that strike such shared understanding in people.

How come you forgot about Lucky?  How badly she was hurt, too.  Anyway, we know how much you've been blessed in all this as any one of these could've been far worse than the favorable outcome God has given us.  Always told you some day when you were a mom you'd understand me more. LOL  I'm glad you wrote about it and I love you and hopefully will be around for new learning experiences in 2000.

DA thank you and I really think it will be better this year!

Rosemary thank you! Sorry to hear that you've had a bad one too.  I hope yours gets better as well....Happy New Year to you!

Mamma...I'm in agreement I think...though things could have been worse, something certainly attached itself...and I'm kickin it out this year!  THank you.

MOM your right I did forget about Lucky....but geez, you didn't have to remind me...one more to add to the list!  Yes, I have been grateful that everything came out as it did!  I know it could have been worse!
Thank you, and yes, I'm certainly understanding what you've gone through!  Well sort of...

Happy New Year and I love you!
