Listening to every heart

0 posted 2013-07-17 02:10 PM

It is with sadness and regret that I post today that our Helen May Chambers, best known around here as 1slick_lady, passed away last night after several years of fighting cancer.

Helen picked up her life and lived it with courage. She started posting on Facebook and oftentimes her poems would find themselves displayed among family and friends, but she was last seen on the blue pages in 2007. I believe this was her last poem at that time.

I note on this poem that Seymour Tabin left a gracious reply as only he would.

But she connected with her PiP friends on Facebook as well. And she shared the news after every doctor’s visit. Not so long ago, she noted that her cancer was in remission. We all cheered!

Apparently our Good Lord found a reason to bring her Home. I know in my heart, she left this world with grace, and dignity.

You may find her information here on Facebook.

I will truly, truly miss her.  She became a wonderful internet friend.  She was the lady with the images, and could take me to places in my mind I could never have gone without her.

She was one hell of a fighter, our Helen.  Some of her recent poetry posted on Facebook certainly shows her fight.

Oh, this makes me very sad! I admired dear Helen's poetry and her personality. Thank you, Karilea, for letting us know, so that we can accompany her with a prayer while she returns Home.

Will go read again some of her poems, she was very gifted.

Hugs to all, we will miss her.

I can't believe this.  I knew she had cancer, but I didn't know how bad it was - I hardly ever touch Facebook and the last time I saw, she was doing well . . . I saw this last night, when I was drawn in by replies to my poems, but couldn't reply then to them, nor this, nor all those beautiful poems posted to her memory nor the duet by her and Charly.  I have no words, only tears and bone-rattling shock.

Typing through tears... Helen's poetry delighted and humbled me, but it was the remarkable woman that really impressed me. Her strength was astounding, her love for friends and family was immeasurable.

Rest in peace, dear lady... heaven's gain is our loss.

My sincere sympathies to her family and all who loved her.

OH my god, even though i dont post on here anymore, i still come back from time to time to read some of my favorite poets here, and for some reason i was drawn back here today to find out this terrible and sad news. I first went to the open poetry pages and didnt even have to open up any of the few poems dedicated to our dear Helen when i realized something very sad just happened.. . i was holding my hand over my mouth as i gasped while i read that she is gone. Gone forever. I simply adored her poetry, and the many conversations we shared through emails over the years. She was just such a wonderful human being. But i absolutely had no idea that she was even sick in the first place and that it was this serious. Thats the bad thing about tomorrow's.. is that sometime they never come.. i only wish i could have said, goodbye, in a note to her.. god im going to miss her.. this is just sooo very sad.. she was just way to young to be gone already. Rest in peace dear friend.. thanks for sharing your heart and soul with us all these years.. i just hope she realized how much she meant to so many.. just soo soo sad
