Why not take a turn looking after the very site you post at?

A Volunteer Moderator is a Moderator in every sense of the word, with one important distinction - they commit themselves to no more than a two week period. During that two weeks, they otherwise do everything a full-time Staff Moderator at pipTalk does. At the end of their tenure, they can go home with the knowledge they have contributed to the continued health and existence of our home. Small commitment. Very big contribution.

Anyone with 300 or more posts and two months or more Membership, who feels they understand and can fairly apply our guiding principles is encouraged to apply. If accepted, you will be granted access to our the Volunteer Moderator forum and a Staff Moderator will be assigned to help you learn the job as quickly and painlessly as possible. During your time as Moderator, you will learn a LOT about what makes pipTalk work, learn a LOT about the behind-the-scenes activities that make this place possible.

More importantly, you will be a part of that process.     Here you go, give it a shot!

some of us, I'm afraid ... have no 'official training' in writing (let alone 'poetry') whatsoever!

I, for example, am simply a humble 'voice in the wilderness' for the stewardship of Nature;
Universality (the infinite 'connectedness' of everyone and everything across all scales of
observation throughout this grand-scintillating universe); and for the tolerance (and celebration)
of human diversity ...

[I would not wish to presume any right to 'pass judgment' on the expression of others!]

Oh my if it were based on poetic knowledge I would be the last in this line!   Being a moderator is a great way to learn more about poetry actually.  No one really passes any judgment on poets, we just try to keep the site as "family-friendly" as it is right now.  There are places here for adult material and that is sometimes under discussion if a moderator thinks it is too adult for open.  All in all, it is a fun "gig" and you get to really know what goes on behind the scene.

We would love to have more poets give it try.  It is great to be part of this community by volunteering our time to help out.  It is only for a two-week period, and only when you have the time to donate to read the poetry in the forum you applied to moderate. A lot of poets log onto the site daily anyway, so it's fun to be a moderator, give it a try!
