Thursday, my husband of 55 years had a major stroke, but thank God, he wasn't paralyzed. He was doing well following Saturday's discharge, until folding up on the floor following this morning's shower.  An ambulance took him back to the hospital, where he is now.  Dr. says he'll probably be released tomorrow evening if he's able to walk okay.

What a wonderful gift a prayer for him during this most blessed, busy Christmas week would be.

Thank you and Merry Christmas to each of you.

Rae

Prayers for you and your husband and wishing you both a peaceful and quiet Christmas so that he can recover at his own pace, yet enjoy the blessings of Christmas at the same time - and you too, of course.

I will be there in spirit for that peanut butter sandwich, and it sure sounds good to me.  Take care you two, and stay off the roads if they are too slick.

Again, you know you are in my prayers always, and your in my thoughts as well.  Merry Christmas Rae, and Ray.

In spite of landing on both knees on the glare ice in the hospital parking lot, and scraping the glassy coating off the car and winshield, we're thanking God he was discharged and we're home safe and sound.
It was sleeting something dreadful and I'm thinking what will I do if I can't get the passenger side door open?  After about 4 tries, it opened.  I drive a Saturn SL, but doubt hubby could fit in the trunk.  He's happy to be home using his shiny new walker.

We thank each and every one of you who prayed and any who'll continue praying with us in mind.  All healing thoughts are really  appreciated.

God bless,
Rae

Rae, I have just now learned of the trying experiences that you and your hubby have been going through. I am relieved to know that you have 'weathered' it all. It appears that you both must have spent Christmas together in your own hearth and home! God bless the both of you!

Love & healing Light,

Linda

Many thanks to each of you as we come to the close of 2009.  It appears we'll have an on going saga here since Ray's cardiologist says his tests showed an aortic valve problem.  Possibly in March, they'll have a more detailed look through an angiogram, to see if he may also need a by-pass when they replace his aortic valve. Meanwhile, giving him time to overcome the effects of his stroke. Doesn't look like he'll be golfing when the snow melts this spring, but hopefully by mid or late summer.

Ongoing  prayer and healing thoughts are greatly appreciated.

Happy New Year to all.

God bless,
Rae

Many thanks for your support and prayers.  He did well on his first physical therapy appt. and although we were in bed by 10:30 last night, we welcomed the New Year today.  There will be a few challenges but God willing, we'll face and deal with them, one by one. I thank God for each of you.  It means a lot.

God bless,
Rae

Continued prayers for you and your husband.  It is so good to hear of such a loving couple.  I can imagine your fears when you didn't know if you could get the passenger door of your vehicle open.  I hope your knees are feeling better.  I am glad things are going well, despite the aortic valve problem to add to the problems.  Enjoy your love and let it heal your husband, step by step.

Well, he's back in the hospital.  The left
side of his face started drooping, I called they said go to the emergency NOW!  Another MRI was done showing this is an ongoing progression of his original stroke, as was the last episode.  Neurologist said this is not out of the ordinary.  The brain is not getting enough nourishment (blood supply) due to narrowing arteries.  If thinned too much, it will cause bleeding one the brain, so until a happy medium can be reached, these episodes may continue.

A snow storm is predicted for Thurday, so I pray I get him home tomorrow.

Each prayer from each of you is greatly welcomed and appreciated.

Thank you so very much and also for taking the time to write.  My hubby was quite impressed by all the caring hearts, when I shared this with him.

God bless,
Rae

Oh Rae try to leave him in their hands until the snow blows over - you can talk on the phone I bet?  He is best in their care until his blood thins to the right consistency, and his engine is running smoothly.       You take good care of you in that storm weather, so you can take good care of him when he does come home.   Don't forget he has to plant all those cucumbers for next year yet, and set up Ray's Veggie Stand!

I'm sorry to hear of Ray's relapse. Post stroke is a tricky time with all the balancing of meds and blood chemistry etc. Once all is in order he will begin the road to recovery. ~ I'm praying for a speedy and full recovery for Ray, dear Rae.

Breathe in the vitality of the fresh new year! It is a time of beginnings ~ not endings! Before you know it, spring will be here and everything will be sprouting new life ~ including both of you!

God bless you both! xo xo

He's home after that 2 day stay, but this time he's needing a little more help with dressing, pureed food because the chewing isn't working well and his balance is not good.  I'm taking him for physical therapy twice weekly, so hopefully that'll help build his strength and confidence.  He's afraid of falling and I'm glad he is quite cautious because I surely can't lift him.

Your prayers are so appreciated.  Thanks a million!

God bless each of you,
  Rae

I am so sorry to hear of the relapse.  All this must be very scary for you both.  Continued prayers for your hubby's full recovery and for continued strength for both of you while it is taking place.  I would imagine it will take quite some time.  Hang in there, both of you.
