So, I received a proof copy of my book today, but there are a couple of things that I wanna know.

For one, I forgot to put a couple of blank pages at the beginning of the book, thus when you open it, it opens straight to a poem. I don't think this is really something that matters all that much since the whole point is to read the poems and not have to sift through blank pages in order to get to them, but the whole look is a little ..well, unfinished. Do you think I should insert an index of some sort?

Also, how would I go about editing and adding to a pdf file, or do I have to do it over in Word and change that into a pdf again?

I am having to pay for my proofs, which sucks but it's not too big of a deal. I want this to look nice and professional but I need to know how? lol

Thanks for any help or suggestions!

Meg, I don't think there is a way to edit a pdf file. I did the same thing on my proof too. Forgot to add the copyright notice...but the title page is a must if you are gonna sign the book! I would say page 1 is the title and your name page. Page 2 would be blank. Page 3 is the dedication page. Page 4 blank. Then start poems page 5.

Adding pages is easy in Word. Just put the cursor on the page after the page you want inserted...say you want a page in between page 1 and 2...put the cursor at the beginning of page 2 and click "Insert" and then "Break" and a box pops up. Select Page Break.

I don't know any easier way to do it and believe me, I sure had my editing troubles but it was worth it in the long run. I can't wait to see the final product!

*hugs*

You should at least have a title page and a copyright page.
To insert blanc pages, just put your cursor at the beginning of the first text page and press 4 times Ctrl+Enter and it will automatically insert 4 blanc pages before the text.

Good luck.
