I'm afraid it wasn't very successful. There were too many abcesses for them to continue safely. They did see that the bladder was trying to attach itself to the colon, which accounted for the majority of the pain and they repaired that, which gives me a bag to wear for some time and then I'll get to do it all again. Sorry....in kind of a lousy and painful mood tonight. Not sure when I'll get out. Let you know when I do. Thanks for all the thoughts....

Michael,

You are often in my thoughts.  This sounds like a hard time for you - probably scarey, painful and generally hideous.  I don't want to make jokes - I just want you better.  You are very missed.  We are here, and I know so many of us are sending our thoughts to you.

I had no idea that you were in pain and not well - I think of all the time you have spent with me on my poetry (probably when you felt pretty bad).  I can't express how much that means to me.

You are a pretty special person in my life and the things that you are teaching me will be part of me forever.  Thank you for the gift that keeps on giving.

Hang in there - easy for me to say, huh.  Well, hopefully, the bag is temporary and you will be pain free again.  That's my hope for you.  If I am needing to focus hopes and thoughts in another area, just let me know.

Grumpy, foul-tempered, cranky and mean - it won't change how I feel about you.  Give the nurses heck and come back when you can.

You are in my thoughts.

Alison (who marches to a different drum because she ain't go no rhythm)

Ah geez Michael.  I am so sorry you are having this trouble, and hope that you get out of there soon.  I know hospitals are not the nicest place to spend time really are they? Hitting a bucket of balls, will cheer you up when this is all over.  I just hope you get out of there period - and only go back when you have to and leave quickly.  Take care, you are loved.

Dear Mike,

You are loved, and I am praying for you as well.  I won't stop making the bad jokes because they help me cope and maybe help you too.  Besides, abcess makes the heart grow fonder.

I hope that the separation of one thing from another is a help.  My wife had a couple of abdominal operations which laid her up for a while a couple of years back.  I hope that you're more willing to use the pain meds than she was.  My understanding is that use of the pain meds helps the healing go faster unless they seriously give you bad side effects.

Most important is that you get some notion of what you can contribute to the process so you actually feel you're doing something.  Not a bad time to do some writing, if you can get the concentration together, or simply doing some healing or whatever feels like it's helping your process along.  I know that the contribution you make here is missed, I can feel the change in energy around the place.  I know I miss you personally.

Affectionately yours,

Bob Kaven

Oh Michael, I'm sorry you're having a rough time.
I hope you get well and are out of there soon.
Keep your eye on the golf course and your arms out for [[[hugs]]] sweet poet.

Love and best wishes,
/Kit

Need a Hug?

A little something told me
You were feeling kind of down,
And so I'd like to offer you
A smile to flip that frown.

A little something special
To inject into your day,
A light that comes from yonder,
Many miles and miles away.

I wonder if you truly know
The many different times,
That "you" have placed a grin upon
This tired face of mine?

It's time that I reciprocate,
My warm and caring friend,
Please know that I am here for you
To help your heart to mend.

A laugh, a smile, a giggle
Or some time to reminisce,
I'll send you all I can my 'Deer,
But first we'll start with this.

It's just a little note to say
In all sincerity,
How treasured that you truly are
How much you mean to me.

So if you ever need a friend,
A shoulder, or an ear,
Please know that I am here for you,
To wipe away a tear.

I promise to remind you
How important that you are,
Your kind and caring qualities
That shine from near and far.

Your warm and giving nature
Always brightens up "my" day,
So here they come a bunch of hugs,
They're headed right your way!

Balladeer, my most favorite poet, I am so sorry things didn't go well. You are in my thoughts and prayers. I am doubly sorry that you are in pain. I hope and pray that you will get better soon. You're still and always will be my favorite poet.

Hey!

I got the last one in the other night.  So there!

Love ya -
A

PS - Watch out for smirking nurses (with bad hair) offering food of questionable quality.  If it is not the color of a 64-box of Crayons - don't eat it!

I'm so sorry that the least radical procedure wasn't possible, Michael. You are in my thoughts and prayers for a complete and full recovery. You are missed around here so much and it's just not the same without you. (((HUGS)))

Michael,
O.K., you better heal up fast and don't make me come down there and cure you. It ain't much fun around here without you to bust chops on.

Sorry to hear of this turn of events, Mike.  Hope surgery corrects these issues soon.
Make sure you get good nutrition, and take pain meds as recommended...'toughing it out' can slow healing. I'm sending healing thoughts.
