Lynn had a severe set back of her knee in Hawaii and could barely walk. Last week they came home and next day she had an apointment with her specialist. They arranged a MRI scan next day and she got the results today.
Seems she has a little rupture in what's left of her outer kneecap and coming Thursday they will operate again to get it fixed.
Then she goes into rehab again with a chance that all will be ok by the end of July for the Olympics.
She doesn't know yet if she will participate in the four week trainings tour end of May.
Main thing is to get ready for August. She gets full coöperation from the coach, who definitely want her in Beijing.

So keep all your fingers crossed and let us hope for the best.

Oh no, Titia.  I will hope and pray for the best and a quick recovery so she can participate in the Olympics.

Update:

Lynn had her operation today. It was a bit worse than she first thought, more painful too. The docter scraped off quite a bit of cartilage and and had to cut off more of her kneecap than expected.

Now we have to wait and see how fast it will recover. She has only 4 months left till Beijing, which is rather short I fear.

I know, there are far worse things than missing the Olympics, but it would be such a nice closure of her active softball life.

All I can do is hope for the best.

Having torn all four ligaments a long time ago in a helicopter ski accident, I know pain in the knee well,   I also know that with hard work and determination, she may just be ready in time Titia.  I also had a deadline, and could have not made it, but was determined to do so, and I know if she can, she will be too!

She will get there if it is meant to be, and if not, it certainly doesn't take the light off the fact that she could have been, and how hard she worked to have gotten as far as she did.  Nor does it take away from the pride in being chosen to go there.  I wish her much luck with the therapy, its rough and a lot of hard work.

Lynn goes on my prayer list for healing now.  I'm so sorry to learn of her problems, but maybe the good Lord knows something we don't.  May she yet see the best whatever that may be.  She's a very committed young lady.

God bless,
   Rae

She's in my prayers, dear. You've certainly had a lot on your plate lately. Let's hope that Lynn heals quickly, and will be on top of her form come August!

Update on Lynn:

She had her operation, they fixed the rupture and cleaned all loose ends. She's doing very well and started slowly training fieldwork again.
Looks like she will participate in the next trip to USA end of May.
She said 'Do thank all your nice poetry friends for their support and well wishes'.

But I'm not cheering too soon, still a few months to go till Beijing.

Titia, a good friend of mine has a daughter that just went through the Boston Marathon. It brought to me thoughts of your daughter, especially when she told me that during the race, her daughter had problems with her feet, and had to get them wrapped to continue the race.

It is a good thing when we raise our children with such stamina...even though we silently bleed for their love of the chase, whatever it may be.

We might only hope that their chase is for all of the right reasons.

We are proud of your daughter's stamina. Please let her know, it's OK to be.
