Beautiful pictures and words, dear Titia. Thank you for sharing them with us.
Yes, those who met dear Seymour were really lucky souls.
But he reached into everybody's heart, also across distance.

love

I felt a teardrop slip and fall
for in remembering his all
I treasured the moments that we all spent
in New Poet Richey, with Seymour
... in the land of merriment~

Sy was so loving, making EVERYONE feel special~
That made him exceptionally special in my heart~

ALL of the entries are so moving, so touching~

(Titia ... that is SO beautiful)
Thank you, it is definitely a keeper~

I didn't know him, only through his poetry.  My prayers and heart go out to his family, friends and to you.

'Deer,  thanx for keeping me up to speed as
you unselfishly did.  I too enjoyed that man
and what he gave to us over the years.

I will miss him though I am glad he has been
taken home for a ravaging disease can be so
difficult and painful.

He won't be forgotten,  thanx Michael for
your loyalty and friendship to a grand
gentleman and lady.

I never got a chance to meet him though i have been close enough here in Florida

I just can't believe he's gone, but he's lived a good life, had many friends, and left behind such wonderful poems for us

Thanks for this poem Mike...a beautiful tribute, along with the replies and pictures...just wonderful!

I never knew when I'd be stopping in for a read with my morning coffee, but I always knew that Sy and his daily offering would be waiting.  But no more...
The kindness you showed me Sy, will never be forgotten.  Rest well friend...

I cry at the loss of this wonderful person. Having met Sy, I know the world is a far lesser place without him in it. My heart goes out to his family at this time of loss.

A poem I wrote for Sy after having met him in Cape Cod. Michael if you would could you please pass this on to dear Isabelle. A true gentleman and a scholar he was...
Ruth

A Gentleman and a Scholar (For Seymore)

His soft expressions light his face
Both eyes and smile display his grace
And yet these things are just a part
Of what makes up this poetís heart
His words omit a subtle flair
That takes us readers unaware
In lines so rare, all wisdomís found
In every verse, talent abounds
A gentleman heíll always be
Heís bonded proof of chivalry
Though Iíve met plenty, you can bet
A sweeter man, Iíve never met

I am nothing special...and my name will soon be forgotten, but I've loved another with all my heart and soul, and to me,this has always been enough.~N.S

Though I didn't know him well, I read many of his works and admired his ability to tackle a subject with a keen, strightforward eye.

A life celebrated. Best wishes to his family through these tough times.

Saddened by Sy's passing as are many of us who had the privilege of touching him through his art, I am comforted by Magnus' comment in its wisdom and sentiment.  My eyes well thinking of Sy, because he genuinely touched my thought with his poetry and his comments. I always felt him smile.

He once said to me that we might meet at the shore, and perhaps we will.

My condolences to his family, and others who loved him, too.

I do believe the loss is mine in not having been privileged to know Sy more than through his poetry.  I did however always enjoy his poetry and am so glad that it will always be here for a re-read.

My sincere condolences to his family and to all those at Pip who knew him both personally and through his poetry.  He has touched many.

He will be missed in these halls of blue
but his words will ring on forever
and his friendship cherished forever.

Dear Deer, thank you for the beauty of your gift and heart.

I only knew Sy from his poetry here, and never spoke with him beyond a comment here and there in the blue .. but he touched my heart, as he touched so many. If I leave this world having been loved half as well as his words showed his love of his sweet Isabel, I'll count myself most lucky. He was an inspiration and a beautiful soul.  He will be missed.  My condolences to his family, and to all of you that knew him well. The sun shines a bit dimmer with his passing.

A gentleman in every sense of the word, A man of great wisdom and simple humility. What he  brought to this forum, was a rare talent, an abiding respect for all and love, just love
I will miss this dear and precious friend.
I shed a tear of regret and at the same time I smile in celebraation of his life
I truly loved him, my master poet
