Hi everyone! Just wanted to tell you, my computer won't stay on now. When I try to turn it on, it shut off, then when I try again to turn it on, it says it is due to a thermol event (overheating). I don't know what that means. I wanted to let you know, while I have a chance. So you will know why you don't see me on anymore. I have no money to get it fixed. I will sure miss you all.

Check the fan see if it turns? do your computer make Bi bi  sound?

find your original disc--a CD with the system Like window2000 and put it into the CD driver then press  the start button. see if it works?

I am sorry to hear that. but you sure can find somebody to fix for you. If there is a computer company, a college, or go to city hall to ask anybody who has computer knowledge, they may kindly to give a look and a free help. or may be someone in county library. You may get online in county library.

and it could be due to too dusty.

let us know how it is going.

Take the cover off and vacuum the dust from the fan Sue.  I have a feeling that is what it could be.

Mine did that and I thought I was going to have to replace it. It turned out to be it needed dusting and some thermal paste renewed under the CPU. Cost was a total of 6.00. Can of air 4.00, thermal paste 2.00, a bored computer geek at the used computer store priceless.

If you take the cover off, don't forget to unplug it first. And be careful not to make contact with any of the inside components with anything metal..

Sue,
We're always willing to help. Hope it works.

take it up to a computer store (where you bought it) and ask them how to take the cover off and clean the fan

I'm sure it won't cost you a penny

We are all hoping that you can connect long enough, Sue, to read these messages, and follow all of the great advice.

Oh, Sue! If it doesn't rain ~ it pours! You've had one trial after the other! ~ and now this!

I hope that your computer is up and running by now and that you are able to read these replies. I learned a thing or two from them myself.

I am having 'puter problems as well and am writing this from my daughter's computer.

Sue is still undergoing computer problems. She can barely stay on five minutes when her computer shuts down. But she, herself, is ok, and missing everyone very much.

Thank you for letting us know Karilea.
I had been emailing Sue with no response and was worried.

How much would fixing Sue's computer cost? Does anybody have any idea?
Seems to me that it really could be that her van is not cooling properly, I've had troubles with that too in the past.

Titia, several of us in contact with Sue by phone have mentioned to her to take the  hard drive to Circuit City where she bought it a little over 2 years ago and find out how much it will cost. I guess she hasn't had the time yet since she has been taking some new CNA courses.

I don't know how long it is going to last, but, right now, my computer seems to be staying on. My CD ROM seems to not be working, though. When I put a CD in it, it does nothing. I went to where the drives are to click on it, but it wasn't there. It seems like my computer is already falling apart, and it isn't that old. But, I didn't get the extended warranty, because I didn't have enough money. I wish I had never bought an emachine. I wish I had bought a Dale, instead. I seem to have alot of trouble with this one. This one was on sale, though.
Anyway! Maybe it will stay on for a little while. I hope so, because I have missed you all so much.

Now that's good news,Sue. Let's hope and pray you'll be able to get it repaired without needing another full time job to pay for that.
