Merry Christmas to All!

The main site Passions in Poetry has been updated today with almost 24,000 votes, over half of which include comments left by our visitors.

Additionally, our 100 Favorite Poems showcase site has been updated almost simultaneously. Obviously, with that many votes coming in the door, the lists have been shuffled some little bit.

FYI, 100 Poems has a new feature with this update. On each of the index pages, after the title of a poem is listed, there's a small graphic that indicates whether the poem moved Up in the list, Dropped in the list, remained the same (no graphics at all), or is a New addition to the list. If you point your mouse at the little graphic and hold it steady, a little tool tip will appear to give detailed numbers where appropriate.

... And to All a Good Night!

Is he ignoring me? He's ignoring me, huh? *pout*

I just wanna know about that hat, Ron.

Where did ya get the hat? What circumstances were you in when that picture was taken?

I just realized I've been staring at that pic for six years now, and I wanna know the story behind it.

and oh, the work you did on the site is much appreciated.

The hat? It goes with the scarf you can just barely see, Karen. And the chaps, boots, six-shooters, and carbine you obviously can't see. It also went fair to middlin' well with the blonde saloon floozy sitting to my left, flashing a bit of leg and a come-hither smile. 'Course, you can't see her, either.

Yanno? If I close my eyes just halfway and dream--I think I can see her!

Hell, another glass of wine and some peroxide?

I think I can be her!

(I am allowed a little wine Nan...but the whiskey and tequila is on the "no no" list--just above the cheese. *laughing*)

Ron? You should tell us the whole story though.

Yer an interesting guy.

(and how did I know there was gonna be a gun? )

thanks for indulging me. Merry Christmas.

....I've often wondered about the hat.  I had it imagined with a pointy little tip...like a Wizard's hat!

Of course, now I'm imaginating a whole lot more!

And who said we can't make up words as we go along in life?

Had a potential new client call in the other day, and he wanted to know how much it would cost him to be consultated!

Ron, 24,000 poems....that means you read them, approved them, pushed and pulled and guided things along...and here we all thought you were retired and watching the hummingbirds in summer and the snow in fall....

Thank YOU!

I doubt it would be any where near as interesting as what y'all can imagine without an explanation.

There was just shy of 12,000 comments, and yes, I read and approved all of them. Sadly, the potty mouths and naïve children (more than two dozen tried to post their phone numbers?) leave me little choice. But that's actually pretty okay. Just when I feel I'm getting bored with all this, just when I think it's time to try something totally new, the reactions I see from visitors towards the poetry our authors have posted helps to rejuvenate me a bit. It seems like such a simple thing, but I guess I need to periodically rediscover that poetry really can make a difference in people's lives. Reading the comments isn't a chore. It's what keeps the main site on-line, I think.

Well I can sure take my hat off to you Ron.  It  does say a lot about the fact that poetry does make a difference in a lot of people's lives out there, but it also shows one person can make a difference by allowing them access to it.

K, having met Ron I do kinda giggle every single time I see this picture. He is indeed a cutie patootie I will vouch for that.  I like the idea of using the imagination to create the scene where this picture of Ron came from.  For some reason I come up with a new one every time I look at it.  Like tonight I pictured him riding a mechanical bull.

Gee, was that category "Best Of The Best" always there?   I was in a warm and fuzzy kind of glad feeling to see that Kit McCallum's poem to her Mother was at #1 in Poems About Life, that is where it should be.  I wish everyone a relationship with a mother like this poem depicts.

Oh very kewl, that roll-over thingamajig that takes you back up to the top of the page, very kewl indeed.

I was just tickled to see that even though Wht Dove isn't with us physically, she still lives on and being included in these auspicious lists makes me very happy. She is a precious soul and every time I see her name mentioned on the blue pages, it just makes me smile in remembrance.

I am a newbie here and at the forums, and am still stumbling my way around.

I have posted several poems on the forums, and wondered how to post here...and also...were any of the poems taken from the forums...is that how you chose them?

I love the site and plan to be here for quite some time.  Good Job everyone!

Ron, I just finished reading all of the updated comments ... and all I can say is "thank you".

Thank "you" for continuing to allow both the readers and the authors an outlet to share so much with each other. It means so much to so many, including me.

Best wishes and great big giant hugs,
/Kit

That's what makes the magic, Ron.
And why you're the Wizard.

Thank you!

I know it's a lot of work and applaud you for your continuous efforts in updating~

Will there ever be any new poetry added ?

While I still get emailed comments on the stuff of mine that's there ... most people who write me from the main site think that I haven't written anything since 2000, so I'm just asking~
(I know ... as I always do)

How come Ron must update the main site all by himself?  Can't others at Passions help so that there is not such a load on one person?

LOL ... surely you jest ?

Come on, Ron ... tell Ess the 'why' of it !

I'll be first to raise my hand and admit that I would NOT have the KNOWLEDGE to do what he does !!

If I could ... well, you know ...~
