Dear 2006,

I'm writing you today from 2005, to wish you luck on your future. This year is going to be the best year yet. It's going to be full of surprises, full of laughter and many learning experiences. Everything that happens this year is going to bring strength and wisdom. When things arise view them as opportunity. Nothing this year is meant as a burden, and accept each new challenge with arms wide open.

In January....

Try something new. Have a daily routine. Wake up early, have coffee and breakfast, sit down and read a chapter of a book. Relax, take time for yourself. Carry this on throughout the entire year, but start it early!

Do something for someone that doesn't give you anything. this thing that you do has to be purely from the heart, if it is to gain or achieve something in return then it is selfish and unrewarding. Do something selfless.

In February....

Show someone you really care... Surprise them, don't look back.

Strengthen your relationship with God. He is your king and savior, honor him. Spend time with him, talk to him, he is your best friend.. and he is not equipped to stab you in the back. Or cause you pain. He is the most honest, he is the best listener and you can rely on him for anything.

In March....

Be there for your best friend, she needs you to be strong when she can't be. When her baby is born, do anything you can to help her adjust to this. Open your heart, forgive her. Open your ears and your heart to her, be a good shoulder to cry on.

Don't be foolish on your birthday. 21 is a great age. But alcohol can cause major problems. Be safe. Moderation is key. Don't overdo it. But go out and have some fun.

Goals of the year!

1.) Focus on God
2.) Focus on Family
3.) Get a good job
4.) Get back into school
5.) Work diligently on book. Take this project by the reins and finish it. Publish it.
6.) Take a walk in someone elses shoes, or two.
7.) Be Selfless
8.) Take up a new hobby
9.) Aim high, but don't be discouraged by setbacks.
10.) Add new goals throughout the year, as you learn and grow. Never stop for a moment, never doubt yourself.

Being true and genuine, means being you.

Kellie, this is super!  You have a great perspective on life at a young age and I'm sure you're going to go far.  I gleaned a few tips from this that I definitely need to put into action.  Thanks for writing and sharing this as well as the goodbye to 2005.
